Substituted sausage for bacon, based purely on personal preference. Delicious idea! Drives me to become much more creative with my breakfast foods!

I'm not sure what possessed me to try such a thing. Why ruin waffles with bacon? Not something I'll try again. Sorry.

I made these with whole wheat flour and it worked just fine. They were nice and fluffy.

My mom use to make these for me when I was a kid 30 years ago.....I thought she just made it up and I loved them! If you like the salty/sweet combo you will love these.

This is a very good waffle. I have had a waffle iron for years and hardly used it, my waffle would always be soggy, like a pancake. I thought it was my iron till I tried this for Christmas morning. They were delicious. Crispy outside and moist and tender inside. The next day just popped the LO in the toaster for a minute and was like the day we made them. This is just a really good basic waffle, with or without bacon. The only little change I did, was after the first batch, the batter got a little thick(I felt) and just added a tiny bit more liquid. That's it. Will definitely keep this recipe.

These waffles were wonderful. Very Light. Leftover waffles were put in the freezer and later toasted. Still tasted great
