It's pretty hard for brussels sprouts to be knock-your-socks-off good. After all, no matter what you do to them, they're still...brussels sprouts. But as brussels sprouts go, these were definitely a step beyond average - of course, I always say there aren't too many things that aren't better with bacon! I dropped fresh brussels sprouts into boiling water and found 7 minutes to be the perfect cooking time to make them tender, yet not mush, and still retaining their vivid color. Meanwhile, I cooked and crumbled the bacon and drained off some, but not all, of the bacon grease. Tossed in the sprouts with the seasonings and a little more butter, then topped with the crumbled bacon. Good!

Even my kids ate this one up. I increase the bacon and leave everything else as it is.

I used fresh brussel sprouts instead of frozen, used the bacon grease from frying my bacon instead of butter, used salt and garlic powder instead of garlic salt (I did not have any garlic salt), and cut the bacon into small strips instead of crumbling it. Went well alongside my red garlic mashed potatoes, honey glazed ham, and strawberry shortcake.

These were pretty yummy and they were really easy to make. I used extra-virgin olive oil instead of butter though but they still turned out pretty good and I'm not a brussels sprouts lover.

I used fresh brussels sprouts and fried them in a skillet with butter than added the spices and bacon...turned out great. Thanks for something different to add to the holiday table!
