Bacon Tater Bake
SUBMITTED BY:
Nita Cinquina
"In Surprise, Arizona, Nita Cinquina makes the most of convenient Tater Tots in this down-home dish. 'A ham dinner would not be complete without this creamy casserole,' she says. 'It always gets compliments.'"

This was sooooo good! I also added some garlic powder to the mix and topped with 2 cups of shredded cheese for the 10 minutes of uncovered time. It looks like a big mess, but it is really good. We were very surprised at how good it was.

I'm going to go ahead and give this 5 stars because I didn't follow it exactly and this recipe isn't getting the kudos it deserves. With the changes I made it was definately a 5. In the mix, I added some garlic powder, seasoned salt, pepper, and minced onion (hubby frowns on too much onion). I didn't have much time, so I used bacon bits (which stayed crisp). And took the advice of others who put cheese on top in the last 15 minutes. It was really good and got rave reviews from company. This is a great recipe where you can add pretty much anything to your liking. I will remember this and make it often! Thanks for a good and easy recipe!!!

We REALLY liked this recipe.. It definitely needs a bag (2 C) cheese on top for the last 10-15 minutes of baking, though... Also, just used 1/2 of an onion. Otherwise, very good side dish that is a little different from all the other tater tot casseroles.

Used chopped fresh potatoes instead of frozen tots. Added canned green beans and topped with bread crumbs once uncovered for the last 10 minutes of baking. Very good. Will use this again.
