Went ahead and added cheese like some of the reviews suggested. These popovers were nothing special, and we wont make them again.

Now I know why there are no pictures of this recipe! The popovers are gone before you can say 'click'! I changed 2 things: I reserved the bacon grease and put about a teaspoon of liquid grease/crumbs in each muffin space before the batter (no flour). I also accidentally put the bacon in with the batter (it was early in the morning). So I crumbled some more for the top. They came out bacon-licious! I'm adding this one to my regulars!

Even though I changed it up some, I think this recipe still warrants a 5 star rating - the ease of making these is awesome! I took the advice of adding cheese and using bacon grease. I halved the recipe since I only have a 6 cup muffin pan. Used a little less than a 1/4 cup cheese. Added more salt and still used 3 slices of bacon. I think I will try making these without bacon at some point and just make cheesy ones. Also will try with bacon and sauteed onion or green in the future. I think this is a good base recipe that a person can use and change up the ingredients to their liking. I love the moist fluffiness of these.

When I made these, I added 1 cup coarsely shredded cheddar cheese (mild). I used pre-cooked bacon and snipped it with scissors over the top of the batter--easy! My husband now has a new love--these popovers! The texture and flavor is great! Definite do-again.

Wonderful! We did take the advice to add cheese but just a tiny bit -- 1/4 cup cheddar. The only change I would definitely make past that is to increase the salt...not sure how much yet but I'll start by doubling it and go from there. These have a subtle flavor, but I would not call them bland. I wouldn't add more bacon or it might be too greasy. Instead, I might add onions, peppers, and/or mushrooms in the future (pre-sauteed). This is a good base that I plan to have some fun with.

After reviewing others comments, I found that the popovers indeed had a slight bland taste, however, I tried coating with waffle syrup on one and honey on another with excellent results in taste. My family really enjoyed the popovers and are making them part of our regular weekend breakfast meal.

Delicious and easy. Based on some other reviews, I added cheese to the mix along with the bacon drippings. This added a little more flavor. I used turkey bacon which tasted just fine when cooked until crispy. The only trouble I had was getting the muffin pan floured...I think it a lack of practice problem! I will be making this recipe again.

I FOLLOWED THE RECIPE exactly and found it to be very bland. I made it again and added 4tblsp of honey to the mix. Scrambled some eggs and melted sliced cheese in the mix. turned out great and my boys loved them....

I made these exactly as the recipe said, and I thought that they were a little bland. They were very moist on the inside, though. I will definitely try these again, since they were very quick and easy and my three year old daughter actually ate them! I think that they would be exceptional with some syrup poured over them.

I found this to be very bland even with the pepper jack cheese that I added. Maybe it could be livened up with some salsa in the batter.

Very filling. Really good. For a more bacony flavor I might try a little bacon grease instead of the vegetable oil.

These were very simple to make and smelled great while they were in the oven. I sprinkled some colby jack on top before baking but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. The outside was crispy and the inside was moist and very good. The fiance and I both agree that these popovers were quite tasty and would absolutely eat them again.
