I am giving this 5 stars even tho I changed the recipe. I know I would like it if I followed the recipe which is what I usually like to do; however I was looking for a soup I could make with ingredients I had on hand plus use up leftovers. I didn't do too much measuring either. I used up some already cooked yukon gold potatoes. I added some diced spiral sliced ham which was yummy, just a few slices of already cooked bacon, crumbled, I used a handful or two of shredded cheddar and not as much milk as called for. I had the bouillon granules on hand but forgot to add. I'm sure that would have added some richness. So anyway, I used this recipe as my base. The soup was excellent and not a bit of it was leftover. I made grilled cheese sandwiches to go with it. This is a recipe you can easily fiddle with to suit your taste or ingredients you happen to have.
