This was a tasty salad! I was in a hurry so I used 2 bags of romaine mix with shredded carrots, 2 pouches of REAL bacon bits, low fat mayo (instead of the real stuff) and 4 vine tomatoes. The garlic powder really picked up the flavors. The next time I make this I will fry up my own bacon and it will be even better. ALSO if you are planning on having left overs, add croutons separately because they get soggy in the fridge!

Even my husband, who hates any dressing besides French and Italian, raved about this salad (and he never raves about any food!). I took it to a party and everyone loved it and I got several requests for the recipe.

Wasn't as great as I thought it was going to be, but it was good. I ended up adding about 1/4 cup of sugar, and liked the dressing better. After reading previous reviews, I felt horribly guilty after eating it, due to the fat content. Not sure if I'll make it again.

Wonderful!! It was all the rave when I took it to a gathering at which the hosts provided baked potatoes and asked the guests to provide salad or dessert. Everyone LOVED it. That was some time ago; I think it's time to make it again for my family.

I took the advice of others and used a bit more bacon and added avacado. I also used whole grain store bought croutons. The salad is great and will become a go to for summer picnics and group gatherings. If you used ranch dressing instead of making the dressing, pre-cooked bacon rather than cooking yourself this could even be picked up on the way to a get together and assembled there.

Oh, this is SO good!!! And I don't need a blender or anything like that to mix up the dressing. Whisking it with a fork has always worked fine for me! Thanks for the great recipe! :)

This is a great little salad. I actually made the dressing ahead of time and let it sit a few hours in the fridge before putting the rest of the salad together right before serving. A little cheese or red onions next time might be a nice addition. Thanks for the recipe!

OMG--this was the biggest hit of the party. I trippled this recipe only to have to make another two servings ... I can't tell you how many compliments I received on this recipe. Thank you thank you thank you! I made [a good amount of] dressing earlier in the day and used fresh thick bacon; it really gave this salad exceptional flavor.

Made this for my son's b-day party and received tons of compliments. My BIL commented that it tasted "restaurant like". Took the recommendation of another reviewer and added three slices of bacon to the dressing while in the blender, therefore, omitted the extra salt. Would be excellent with grilled chicken for a summer meal.

This was a great "light meal" for a weekend with company. Thanks so much to IndyDiva79 for the instuctions for baking bacon -- what a fabulous way to free up your hands to do other things. Next time I will reduce the garlic powder. It tasted good, but stayed with us a bit longer than one would like, if you know what I mean. I put only about 1/2 of the dressing on the salad which was still plenty. Overall a good, simple, easy lunch for guests.

I used turkey bacon for this recipe and it tasted great. And instead of croutons I slice french bread, butter it, and bake it for 5 minutes. Then I cut each slice into 5-6 pieces and sprinkle that on the salad.
