I used the Boston butt instead (5lbs). Added two bottles of root beer and cooked for 7 hours. Once it was done I drained the juice and shredded the meat. It was so easy and the bone pulled out of the meat with nothing on it. I then added my BBQ sauce and cooked on low for 35 more min. We had so much meat left over we were able to freeze half of it. Next time I may add some additional seasoning, like brown sugar or a rub, but you cannot go wrong with this!!

These are great! The oven roasting at the end is key to making these so good.

These were delicious! The leftovers made awesome quesadillas too. I added the leftovers to sauted red pepper and garlic, spread it onto tortillas and topped with cheese, green onion and cilantro. Placed another tortilla on top and heated it on the George Forman. Yum!

I used a pork butt roast and used beer instead of beef broth and it was delicious....it really didn't need bbq sauce on it! Will make again and again...

Made this for dinner last night and my picky husband loved it. I used pork butt and added an onion but other than that made it as written. I used Jack Daniels barbeque sauce. Would definitely recommend this recipe.

So simple! Cooked in slow cooker all day. Shredded and put back in the broth. We like to add BBQ sauce seperately on our sandwiches. YUM!
