I tried this recipe today for our church group and it was a BIG hit! I used a 6.5 lb. pork shoulder and seasoned it with salt, pepper & garlic powder. I cooked it in beef broth with a few minced cloves of garlic for 10 hours on low. The meat shredded SO easily. I added Sweet Baby Ray's Honey BBQ sauce and let it heat for another hour before I served. I served it on rolls with macaroni salad and sweet potatoes. SO DELISH.

I have used this recipe for the past 3 years to feed 80 - 100 kids from our Church Youth group. It is easy, I use 2 large crock pots, cook pork shoulders (I buy them in packs of two at Costco) all night, shred them in the morning and add Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce. Then I put the meat in the refrigerator, then back in the crock pot a few hours before serving to get it warm. It is a great way to serve a large crowd of hungry teenagers!

I thought this recipe was good. I took the advice of others and put half of the bottle of sauce in the slow cooker and the other half in the dutch oven. Good recipe but not great.

It almost seems silly to review since it already has so many positive reviews, but I had to- it was just that good! This was my first attempt at a slow cooker recipe. I followed it without making any changes, and it was awesome! I highly recommend!

I used a 7 lb pork butt. I first cut all visible fat and then. cooked it on high in the crock for about 8 hours. In the crock I put a layer of sliced onion rings on the bottom, then the pork, then I used a few dashes of worshteshire sauce, liquid smoke, and a tsp. of minced garlic. Poured 16 oz. of low salt beef broth over it. I used Sweet Baby Ray's bbq sauce but my advice to you is to use whatever bbq sauce you enjoy. After removing, I shredded it and removed any visible fat I saw that remained, no big deal and easy to do. I do believe the oven step is important to give a little browning to the beef which greatly adds to the texture. This is EXCELLENT bbq pork and makes a generous amount, would be great for tailgates or parties. I will no longer be buying it already made at my local butcher for $10/lb! I have been looking for a recipe like this for ages, thanks so much!

OMG this was so good. I used boneless pork shoulder. I added 3 cans of the beef broth. I wanted the broth to cover most of the meat. When it was time to take it out the meat just fell apart! I didn't do step 2 and 3. I used Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce like others said and it was just right! Will be making this again!!!

So good, and so easy! I followed the recipe fairly closely. My only change was to use a Boston Butt instead of the ribs. I cooked it on high high in my crockpot for 4 hours, then transferred it to my dutch oven where I shredded it, removed any excess fat, and mixed in my fave bbq sauce (Sweet Baby Ray's). After that I put it in the fridge til the next day, when I warmed it in the oven at 350 for 1/2 hour. I served it on rolls with cole slaw, and it was a huge hit.

I tryed this recipe for my son who is so picky It's hard to find meals that he likes. He actually asked for seconds and it was so easy to prepare. I used "Sweet baby Ray's" barbeque sauce and it was delicious! Thanks, Barbie p.s. it sounds like Im speaking of a little boy but my son is a sophmore in college LOL

I didn't have the beef broth so I just used water and my ribs had the bone in. I didn't even need 2 forks to shred, it was so tender it fell apart! Followed the rest of the recipe and all I can say is, I thought my way of doing this was good...but your version has replaced mine in the recipe box! Thank you for sharing!

Talk about easy! We use pork shoulder instead of ribs. We've used beef broth and beer...they both work just fine.

I made this for dinner last night and it was pretty easy to make. The meat was tender with a nice flavor because of the beef broth, the bbq sauce was easy to stir in and gave it a great flavor as well. So everything was great until... I put it in the oven and it dried up. I had to add a bit more bbq sauce to make it a bit juicier, so that's why I'm giving it 4 stars.
