"A combination of roasting, then barbecuing with sauce makes this pork a delicious southern style recipe. Takes some preparation but well worth it. Excellent for feeding a crowd!" — tj

6 pounds pork butt roast
garlic salt to taste
1 (18 ounce) bottle hickory flavored barbecue sauce
8 hamburger buns
I absoluetly love this recipe with sweet baby rays bbq sauce or sticky fingers memphis style bbq sauce. OH my gosh is it GOOD!!!! Thank you so much for sharing:)
This was an okay recipe but I put mine in a crockpot for eight hours and then shed with two forks and pour the BBQ sauce over and mix. This way you just walk away from it.

use your favorite bar b q sauce and this will melt in your mouth.
I make the roast and serve it as such, then use the left overs for the sandwiches. I make my own sauce as well but the idea is brilliant for left overs even chicken and beef.
This recipe turned out pretty good. My husband even loved it. He said it was good even without the bbq sauce, but then again he's not a fan of it. This will only be the way I'll cook bbq pork from now on, especially because I don't own a smoker.
Easy and delicious!
followed almost exactly. I trimmed alll the visible fat, slow cooked it for 8 hours, then pan fried it in a little of its own fat , then I added S.B.rays bbq sauce. Delicioso!
this was so yummy and easy! i really recommend shredding the fat off, it really does make a difference..neways i used jack daniels bbq plus i added 1/2ounce of jack wisky too..this was so good and the leftovers the next day ..even better!
