While making this, my mother looked at me like I was CRAZY. This is NOT your momma's recipe. After a few bites, she was hooked. I omitted the liver and used sage Jimmy Dean sausage-Like most people. Everything else is the same. I made it the day before and threw it in the oven for Thanksgiving. My house smelled SO good! I will make this EVERY Thanksgiving from now on. My family loved it and it tastes "hard to make" but was EASY! My toddlers even liked it!

I decided to make a regular slow cooker stuffing this year for Thanksgiving. It was bland and boring and I missed my delicious sausage, apple, cranberry stuffing! This recipe is so tasty, I almost can't put it into words. I'm making it for our Christmas dinner because I missed it that much! I don't do the liver, and I use Jimmy Dean's sage sausage, but other than that I follow the recipe exactly. You will not be sorry to tried this and you'll want to do it every year from now on!

The best stuffing ever! It was a hit with everyone and, sadly, there were no leftovers.

The best stuffing I ever made. I didn't stuff the bird with it but cooked it on the side for 30 mins at 350 and it was perfect.

Oh, WOW! I followed reviewers' suggestions and used sage pork sausage. I baked stuffing in a pan and periodically checked for drying out. I drizzled with turkey gravy as needed. Also I used fresh herbs. Awesome!!! I used craisins and did not have the liver, but it was incredible just the same. This stuffing is the new standard at our house.

I never made or had stuffing with sausage, man was I missing out! This mix with the apples and craisins was so good, I was bummed that my family thought it was good too and I barely had any leftovers. I'm going to need to make this again even though it's not Thanksgiving.

It seemed like no one was cooking their stuffing in the bird this year, and I knew the oven wouldn't be large enough to roast turkey & stuffing at the same time in the oven. Sure enough All-Recipes came to the rescue. Out came my trusty second hand crock pot. I mixed the recipe straight off the website, no changes or additions, it came out moist, and when scooping it into the bowl. I was delighted to find nice crunchy bits around the walls of the crock. What a crowd pleaser. .

I omitted the liver and made this with a vegetarian sausage and vegetable broth. (I increased the broth, because I read reviews of it being dry.) It went over very well with all my meat eating inlaws. I made this a second time without the sausage and it too went over very, very well. Of course I'm sure my version is nothing compared to the real thing with actual turkey sausage.

I liked this but my family wasn't as excited about it so I'm giving it 4 stars. They said they didn't like the cranberries. I loved them!

this is a FANTASTIC recipe! i was nervous about trying it out, but it turned out great! i'm really glad i decided to go for it. i did, however, use jimmy dean sage sausage instead of the turkey sausage since i couldn't find any. i made it as directed and it tasted wonderful, but it didn't have clumpyness that i'm used to in a stuffing, so i put everything in a 9x13 pan and drizzled a little more stock to it and put it in the oven at 350 for about 15 minutes. came out delicious! will definitely be using this for christmas!

This stuffing is delicious. I've made it the last two years for Thanksgiving and it's is always a hit. I omit the liver and use sage sausage since I can't seem to find turkey sausage locally. I cook outside the turkey and it's YUM!

This was really delicious. I couldn't find sage turkey sausage so I used sage pork sausage. I also used some fresh herbs and unseasoned stuffing (pre-dried bread) I cooked it on it's own in a casserole dish until the edges got a little crispy. I now have to make the stuffing every year.

This is the best stuffing of all time. I make it every year, and people expect me to make it. They love it. It is delicious and never disappoints. I never include the gizzards, and it tastes just as delicious. I cook it in a pyrex dish outside the bird. You can't go wrong making this.

Everyone raved over this one and it has been requested for next year. I added some cooked mushrooms and replaced the wheat bread with cornbread stuffing mix. I was hesitant about it being too sweet..it wasn't even remotely too sweet. I took the time to write this review because it truly is awesome.

This was wonderful! My whole family loved it. The only problem I had was with the amount of stuffing. Next time I'd double the recipe so we have leftovers. I'd also add another apple, because it really added great flavor to the dish. I didn't stuff the turkey with it, but cooked it in a casserole dish in the oven.

The herb mixture is the best part of this recipe. I had to substitute marjoram for sage and it was fine. I used Jimmy Dean's ground sausage. I didn't like it with the cranberries, so I'll be taking that out next time. Next time, I will also mince the apple into smaller pieces and add 1/2-3/4 of the apple instead.
