We liked these. The cheese gets evenly melted and they don't seem as greasy as the stove top way. But the crust IS crunchier this way, if you like that and I did concentrate the butter on the edges.

I used to LOVE the school cafeteria grilled cheese and was always dissapointed that mine never turned out that good at home. Now I know why!! The oven gives the sandwich the perfect amount of crispiness to bring back the memories of why I loved school grilled cheese so much growing up! The only change I made was to add some garlic salt to the outside buttered pieces of bread. Yum! This is the only way I will make grilled cheese from now on.

What a great recipe. So much easier to make grilled cheese sandwiches in quantity. The come out much crispier than usual. I used one slice cheddar, one slice provolone, a thin slice of fresh tomatoe, and some italian seasonings...on bakery white bread. Delicious!

This was A LOT simpler then standing over the stove as you grill the sandwiches....unless you have a griddle and can do all of the sandwiches at once. I made this with ham and cheese and the kids loved it.

Certainly frees up your time with the oven. I like to make it during lunch when I have to deal with the dishes.

This is the first time I have tried grilled cheese in oven, and I loved it. Not only was the time issue solved while making several sandwiches, but they were much cripier then pan grilling them.

I made these with sourdough bread and used a slice of medium cheddar and a slice of prolovone on each sandwich. They were very good.

I can't believe I'm actually rating this recipe, but the method used sure cuts down on the cooking time when making these for a family. I prefer more of a gourmet sandwich, but give this 5 plus stars for helping to make my life a little easier.

This worked very well for making a lot of sandwiches at once. They tasted just like they would if we had toasted them in a skillet. They did require a few extra minutes on each side. I added sliced green olives, fresh minced garlic, and thinly sliced tomatoes to some of them. YUMMMM!

Followed the recipe exactly, even the 8 minutes on both sides. Tasted amazing, will make when I need to feed a crowd, but I have to admit, I prefer the taste of grilled cheese on the stove top.
