Love, love, LOVE this! I made a half-recipe, knowing I would be the only one to eat it at my house. Did not use the pepper, because I forgot to add it, and didn't miss it at all. Used Kraft Balsamic Vin. dressing...very good. I devoured a half recipe in 4 sittings. Lovely, thank you!

This simple recipe rocks! It never occurred to me that balsamic vinegar on avocados would be so tasty. I just made one serving, so a couple of tomatoes, half an avocado, and a drizzling of the dressing was sufficient (not a fan of onions). Fabulous!

We loved it! Thanks. Be sure to use somewhat firm avocados so it doesn't get too mushy. Another suggestion for those who don't like the way the balsamic dressing changes the color of the salad: 1) as others have suggested, serve the salad before the avocado browns and 2) make your own dressing using WHITE balsamic vinegar (I buy it at Trader Joe's). This will help retain the bright colors of the salad.

We like this recipe. We used our favorite bottled dressing instead of putting our own together. We added the avocados last because of the other reviews, it was a smart thing to do. They get a little creamy when stirring and discolor the rest of the salad.

This was really yummy! My husband was apprehensive but after he taste it he ate all that I made. He like it so much, I had to make it again the next day for an appetizer. A+ recipe.

This is SUCH a delicious and easy recipe. I recently brought it to a "salad" putluck with a few modifications: i added bacon and shredded mozzarella and i used a red wine vinaigrette. Also, it's important that you use *good* tomatoes, you know, that are actually red and have flavor. i had friends call me months later for this recipe.

Have made this several times, but cut it down to one large tomato and one avacado for just the two of us. For the onion I use a small red onion cut in half circumferencialy then julienned and about 1/3 cup of balsamic vinegarette dressing. Absolutely fantastic. Wife loves it. She is a salad type person and wants this one often.

This was a big hit when I served it as a last minute sidedish with eggs benedict (we have them for dinner occasionally); was a perfect companion dish to offset the richness of the hollandaise sauce. Not the prettiest salad perhaps, but quick, easy and, most importantly, very tasty :)

Don't include the tomato juice, makes the salad too soggy.

Simple and yummy! You know your taste. Add as much red onion and dressing as you like. Definitely make this salad right when you are about to sit down to eat.

I have made a salad for two by using 1 avocado and 1 big tomato chopped and served on hearts of romaine lettuce. I have added two caps(about two or three tablespoons) of Newman's own light balsamic vinaigrette. It was very tasty! The salad did not look brown and the avos stayed green while it was cooling in the fridge. I noticed with other recipes that the salad dressing can really make a difference on how your salads taste, and I have always had good results with Newman's own dressings.

Very refreshing! I added some diced fresh Mozzarella and let it all marinade for about 4 hrs..Excellent. I served it with this sites Salsa Chicked recipe and it was a great compliment to the main dish!

So simple and yummy. For those who are turned off by the "brownish" color, try white balsamic vinegar. I agree that 8oz is too much dressing.

This salad is good, but the dressing does not make the salad look appetizing. I did use a lot less dressing then the recipe states but the veggies are sitting in a pool of brown liquid. My kids (who are young) wouldn't try it, and my husband said he liked other tomato salads that we have tried better because of the dressing.

I have recently made a similar salad. It used avocado, tomato, a sweet onion, cilantro and green pepper with lime juice as dressing. I think it has more punch and flavor than this recipe.

When I was on my honeymoon in France, we had an avocado and tomato appetizer that I absolutely loved. I was trying to find a recipe for something similar since I couldn't remember exactly what was in it and came across this one. This recipe was good but not quite as good as the appetizer I loved so much in France.

It's so easy to just make your own balsamic dressing....1/3 cup olive oil, 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar, 1 Tbs. dijon mustard, pinch of black pepper, and freshly chopped basil. Ta Da! I added green peppers picked fresh from my sister's garden to the platter of sliced tomato, avocado, and red onion. This was a wonderful side dish to a summer-time grilled Orange & Tequila Chicken entree!
