Don't worry that the apple pieces won't soften enough - they do. Also, use REAL maple syrup not the fake stuff. It's worth the extra money to only use the real stuff.

This was ok, but not as great as I expected after reading the other reviews. I used the suggestion to cook the apples first, but still just not so special. I'll stick to broiling ham steaks with brown sugar and prepared mustard as I learned from my mom years ago.

Really tasty and easy. I opted to cook them in the oven at 450 degrees for 10 minutes, since I was making the Sugar Snap Peas from this site with them. Both turned out excellent.

Yum! I have been looking for a good recipe for ham steak or leftovers, this is it. If you let the the liquid cook down, the apples are a wonder.

This is a very easy recipe to dress up a ham steak. My wife does not care for ham, even going so far as to say she will not eat any ham unless it is from the honey baked ham company, but she ate her whole portion of this dish! My 3 year old son was eating it faster than we could cut it up for him. This recipe will be a regular in our house. Thanks for sharing!

We really liked this. We did as others suggested and did the ham first, then the apples, then combined them. It was so easy. Great for the season!

This was a welcome dinner on a cool autumn night. It's better if you do not overcook the apples. We used sugar free maple syrup.
