I needed a recipe for a contest at work and I read the reviews and saw that someone won an at-work baking contest with this recipe. So I picked it and I also won First Place! I followed the directions in the reviews: doubled the cheesecake and crust portions of the recipe, added brown sugar and cinnamon to the apples and microwaved them for 2 minutes, placed about 1/3 of cheesecake mix into pan then added the apples, and then poured the remainder of the cheesecake mix on top. Then, I added 1/2 stick melted butter and brown sugar to taste to the remainder of the crust ingredients and sprinkled on the top. It was delicious!

great recipe, but I as with everyone else I have a few notes. The Metric recipe calls for 500g of apples, which is a little OTT, in the end I used about 3-4 apples (not sure how much that is in weight) and had enough to put a layer of apple underneath the cheesecake mixture and another on top (which I recommend by the way) with some left over to snack on while it cooked.

This was incredibly easy to make. I did use some of the tips give to make it. I doubled the cream cheese to 4 pkg. I did microwave the apples which really seemed to help and I topped with pecans and some caramel topping. It came very high and looked great. I've made a lot of cheesecake and this was fast and easy!! Also, a apple peeler, corer & slicer is a must.....had the apples cut and ready in minutes!!

AWESOME! This was my first cheesecake so I was a bit nervous, but it turned out great! I followed the advice of noelc for the most part. I doubled the cheesecake filling, baked for 70 min, and used a pan with water underneath. I took their advice with the toppings, but in an effort to simplify... I combined the dough and apples. I spread across the top after the first 40 min of baking. BEAUTIFUL! I will DEFINITELY make this recipe again!

I microwaved the apples to get rid of some of the juice which turned the apples into applesauce. They looked ugly so I made a crumb and almond topping to go over them and crisscrossed that with caramel after it came out of the oven. I didn't try any of this since I made it for a banquet but people said it was delicious.

I made this for Rosh Hashana and everybody loved it. I doubled the cheesecake part, made 1.5x the crust part and sprinkled the extra half crust ingreds on top of the apples. Cooked for 70 mins then opened oven door and let cool. Drizzled caramel sauce over the top before serving.

Wonderful!.. BUT READ THE REVIEWS...if you leave the apples on top they will turn to rubber. Pre-saute them and then bury them in a bit of cheesecake. Do not be afraid to substitute some of the white sugar for brown sugar, roughly chop the pecans for better flavor/texture and sprinkle some of the crust on the top. A little caramel drizzled on top is nice too!

If you took a slice of mediocre cheesecake and served it next to a mediocre slice of apple pie you'd have the equivalent of this dessert. It seemed like a good idea but just didn't excite me.

I am not the biggest cheesecake fan, but based on other reviews, I had to try this. I took others' suggestions and made 1 1/2 times the filling with light cream cheese. I used 2/3 of it on the bottom, then covered with the apples (which I prebaked in the microwave for 2 minutes), and then usd the remaining 1/3 filling over the apples. For the topping I also did as others suggested and made some additional crust mixture. I added in some brown sugar and butter for a delicious topping. All and all it was a special occasion type-of-dessert that was well recieved by my guests :)
