I hosted an Oktoberfest party and served this as my German Potato salad ... it was gobbled up in a hurry ... I almost didn't get any! I was asked about 5 times for the recipe ... only thing I did differently was make slightly more dressing than it called for ... awesome recipe

This was easy to make and tasted good, but lacked a little something for me. I added some dill relish and dry mustard and it was excellent. The dry mustard seemed to tone down the vinegar.

I made this recipe for a pitch-in at work, and after having my husband try it (and tell me that it was better than our 'famous' local deli), I still agonized over whether anyone would like it. No one wants to be labeled as a bad cook. It was a HIT! Everyone loved it and asked me for the recipe! Thank you so much for sharing your recipe!

Absolutely great! This was my first taste and attempt with a German potato salad and my family very impressed. A nice blend of sour and sweet with great flavour from the browned onion and bacon. I used baby (roasting) mixed colour potatoes, halved with skins on, which gave the salad an interesting variation.

Good, be careful not to overcook your potatoes. My mom always sliced them thin, rather than cubing or dicing them. And don't accidently dump out the bacon grease before reading the rest of the recipe.

I just made this recipes for an "Oktoberfest" pot luck we're going to tonight... I quadrupled it and it tastes delicious. I actually put it in a crock pot so it stays warm. yummm OK.. the recipe was a HIT! I used red skinned potatoes and kept the skins on. I think I MIGHT reduce the sugar just a bit next time. It was delicious. Got recipe request. The crock pot idea worked great... it stayed hot for the whole part, but didn't turn to mush. A big Hit indeed!

This was really great potato salad and a wonderful alternative to a mayo based salad. Was a huge hit with the brats we had at a mini Octoberfest!

This was the first time I tried a German Potato Salad recipe. I was very pleased with the results. The only change I made was to add 1 tsp of celery seed. I will be definitely making this one on a regular basis.

Das Gut! My husband is from Denmark, just 20 minutes north of the German border is where he grew up. I made this for him, and he "liked it". He is not much for words, but he went back for seconds and then finished it off the next day. And I loved this potato salad too! Will make again and again!

This recipe was so good that I "sampled" half of it while making it. I could not stop "tasting" it. I will have to make this again just so my family can enjoy equal portions.

This is a good recipe: simple to prepare, economical and quite satisfying. I doubled the recipe. I also cooked 2 stalks of chopped celery along with the onions. I topped the salad with 1/2 dozen sliced hard-cooked eggs, sprinkled paprika over it and put it in the refrigerator. I have 2 grown sons (who happened to have a couple of friends over last Saturday morning) and this salad was gone long before the lunchtime I had prepared it for! :)

I made this recipe for a church picnic. I followed the recipe to the "T" and when I got in line to get the sides at the picnic, I was not surprised to see that this potato salad was the first to go. Everyone raved about it and wants the recipe. Even my boyfriend loved it and he is a really picky eater. Thanks for such a great and yummy recipe. I will definitely be making this again and again!

Maybe it's my German blood, but I just loved this salad. I've made it a couple of times now and it has been a hit every time! It is a little liquidy, so I've let it reduce a little in the skillet. I've also used a combination of apple cider vinegar/white vinegar for a little more flavor. And you can never go wrong with more bacon! If you make it, increase the servings and make it for a crowd. Also good reheated.
