This was a hit at my 4th of July party. I took other's advise and didn't add quite as much sugar and it turned out perfect! We had ribs, cream cheese and jalepeno stuffed burgers, baked beans and so much more and so many people said this was their favorite!

This hit the spot. It's not my grandmother's, but close. I will slice my potatoes next time. Very easy. I used half of a large red onion and half of a large sweet white.

This is just what I was looking for...I was in the mood for German potato salad (which should not even be called potato salad because it is WAY different and WAY better than what most people think of when they here "potato salad"). SOOO GOOD!...and pretty easy too! I will make this again and again. My husband, who had never had German potato salad before, loved it as well. Thanks for the recipe! :-)

My husband and son love potatoes, but hate traditional potato salad with mayo. This was a huge hit for them. Luckily I made a double batch! Note: Red potatoes are a great short cut since you don't need to peel them, plus they add nice color to the dish!

This is a great recipe! I just made a few changes. I used less sugar, I dressed the potatoes mere seconds before serving, and I used extra bacon. It came out great everyone loved it! No one missed the mayo! I do rec. you dress right before serving and make sure the potatoes are nice and warm so they soak up all the flavor!

I thought this was very good. My husband and kids did not as they are used to the typical sugar/vinegar/mayo dressing. We are German but grew up with the PA Dutch version. I would make this again for a pot luck.

I'm not sure how authentic this was. German potato salad cubed? This recipe was too sweet. The true version has more balanced tart/sweet taste as well as a creamier texture....this was way to dry. Not much flavor either. I have a rule of never deviating from the original recipe, but this one needs a lot of changes. Will look elsewhere for an authentic version.

My whole family loved this potato salad... even my picky son who won't eat traditional potato salad! I did change a few things. I used about half the sugar, added celery with the onions and used a bit more bacon. It was fabulous!!!

We didn't care for this at all, it was so sweet it was like syrup on the potatoes. We love eggless potato salads, but this just wasn't for us. I might make it again using a much smaller amount of sugar.

Very good. However, I boiled the potatoes whole, then peeled and diced them, so they wouldn't get to mushy.

Really tasty, but like other comments,I also thought there needed to be more liquid...next time I will cut back on potatoes. Thanks for an easy recipe.

I tripled everything which equated to a pound of bacon (used thick cut) and a bag of potatos. Used yellow gold potatos. Excellent. Was enough to feed a large crowd. I also made hours in advance and just warmed in oven slightly before serving.

I made this tonight with sliced red potatoes - and used a medium sized shallot instead of onion. It was FABULOUS! My husband appreciated it very much. I will be making this again - and even for company or potluck. It was very easy as well. Thank you for this great recipe that will be in my family for years to come.
