I was a cook at an elementary school where we had to use certain foods. But at home I got to experiment! My husband was--and still is--a tolerant taste tester.

You won't believe how delicious, yet how easy this dish is. We tasted it for the first time when our son's godparents made it for us. Even my grandmother--who's 95 years old--likes to serve this creamy dish for luncheons with friends! --Vicki Schlechter, Davis, California

My husband is a big asparagus fan, so I had to try this recipe. It's a mainstay when I want something unusual but simple for guests. For variety, you can leave off the sauce and serve the bundles chilled for lunch. --Donna Lohnes of Wooster, Ohio

Perfect for a busy day, this saucy main dish can be prepared a day ahead and baked before serving. My brothers don't want me to make anything else when they come to dinner! Leftovers are great for sandwiches or sliced with potato salad. --Marjorie Scott, Sardis, British Columbia

I created this casserole one day while trying to find a good recipe for leftover ham. Instead of resorting to scalloped potatoes and ham, or ham and noodles. I tried asparagus. Everyone liked it so well, I've made it ever since.--Helen Ostronic, Omaha, Nebraska

'I received this wonderful recipe from a friend at church,' says Candace Black of Durham, North Carolina. A light breading seals in the juices of tender chicken breasts, making them special enough to serve company. Sliced almonds top off the eye-catching entree.

This scrumptious seafood dish 'travels well'. At least, the recipe does= I make sure to pack it in my handbag whenever my husband and I are preparing to visit out-of-state relatives. Now that we're retired, we travel often. And it's our custom to take over in the kitchen wherever we visit and whip up one of our own family favorites-frequently this casserole. It never fails to win us compliments...along with invitations to visit again!
