Loved it! I've made this twice so far- once with tofu and it picked up the flavor so well even my picky husband liked it. The whole amount of red pepper is necessary to counter the tangy ness of the vinegar and juices.

Deslish! I stayed true to the recipe, and marinated the chicken for the afternoon. It turned out fab, my husband and I devoured it.

I had a little Mother/Daugters Party and served this dish. My daughters and I thought it was delicious. We did have trouble with the coating coming off of the chicken though, and I did pour it over the chicken after it was cooked, as others suggested. We have decided that next time we will buy the popcorn chicken and just make the sauce.

This was DELICIOUS!!!! At first I was disappointed because it didn't look like the orange chicken from the Chinese restaurants but when we ate it, my family and I couldn't believe how yummy this recipe came out. The only thing I cut out of the recipe was the soy sauce. I made the first batch with it and it was to strong. When I made a second batch, I eliminate the soy sauce and it was GREAT!! Will definitely make this again!!!

I was excited to try this recipe out, and was slightly disappointed in it. Some of my disappointment is for sure due to my lack of time and modifying the recipe, but I followed the sauce ingredients to a T and wasn't that thrilled with it. My picky husband liked it just okay and encouraged me to shop around for another recipe.

Very very strong flavor. I was looking for something similar to what we usually have in Asian restaurants, but the flavor came out very strong that we didn't eat it :(

YUCK! Sorry to be the dissenting opinion, but this was not to our liking. The sauce was sickly sweet, and tasted of gloppy cornstarch, vinegar, and sugar. That's it! My husband (who will eat anything, and is always complimentary) finished his dinner in complete silence. I knew he was trying to be kind, but I could see that he had trouble choking it down. My two year old pushed it away saying "Ew". 'Nuff said.

I thought the recipe was tasty, but my kids did not. I think the cornstarch called for was too much and made the sauce really thick and goopy. I simmered the chicken in the sauce which also made the crispy covering not-so-crispy...if I did this again, I would just pour the sauce over the chicken after it was done.

I had been wanting orange chicken and looked at many recipes before settling on this one. I knew that I wouldn't have time this evening to fix it as directed, so I threw everything into my crock pot, except the corn starch, before I went to work today. When I came home, I thickend the sauce and my family loved it!

Wow! I made this almost exactly as written with two small changes. I used boneless-skinless thighs and I used powdered ginger instead of fresh. Otherwise, I followed the recipe exactly and it was fantastic. I served it with some sauteed vegetables (stir fry style using a bit of the marinade) and some steamed white rice. I'll be making this again when I get that hankering for chinese chicken.

***** I would give this 10 stars if I could!! It was absolutely the most delicious Orange Chicken I have ever had - - even better than my local Chinese restaurant. Since I had an orange for the zest, I simply used the freshly squeezed juice from the orange for the sauce and it tasted so fresh and delicious. Yes, the sauce is sweet, but that's what makes it Orange Chicken! I served it with snow peas and bean sprouts - - a perfect meal. Thank you so much, Harry. This is an absolutely wonderful recipe!

Great sweet/sour recipe. Adjust the orange to your liking. My kids thought that it had too strong of an orange flavor, my husband and I thought it was perfect. I served it with a wild rice mix and broccoli which seamed like a good combo. This might be good with beef as well.

This sauce was DELICIOUS! We cut the brown sugar in 1/2 and it was still plenty sweet. Absolutely in our dinner rotation, albeit a bit time consuming.

Excellent orange sauce. Since it called for orange zest, which requires grating the skin of an orange, I used fresh squeezed OJ from the orange which was a little overpowering on the first try. I increased the brown sugar a bit on the next try and it came out perfect. I've also cooked the chicken in a tempura batter served over rice and used the sauce for dipping or drizzling over the chicken a few times. Very versatile sauce. Added it to my recipe book.

Oh, the flavor! Really excellent layers of flavor. It was a big hit with my husband and a guest. I followed it to a T except that I took the advice of some others and only used two tsp of cornstarch mixed in water. I also didn't have enough rice vinegar so I used some white wine vinegar as well. Delicious!

biggest issue? too sweet. the chicken without the sauce was actually quite good alone. if i make this again, i think i'll just marinade the chicken, stir-fry in oil, and serve with rice and veggies.

I doubled the recipe and am glad I did. Used the extra sauce to put over stir-fried veggies (snow peas, matchstick carrots, baby corns, and green onion) and Jasmine rice. We prefer chicken crispier, so I did not add the chicken to the sauce: just served on the side, instead. Next time will decrease the lemon juice: was just a little too prominent, for our tastes. Will make again. Thank you, Harry Weitzel for sharing.

I thought it was good but the family all said that the orange flavor in the sauce was too strong. I followed others and cut brown sugar to half cup. If you like crispy chicken then don't add the sauce till the end. Also be sure to mix warm water with the corn starcge before adding to sauce and add gradually because it will turn into a thick gel if you add too much. I added the chicken to brown rice and poured sauce over all. If you like to sauce on your rice you may want to make a little extra.
