This is a good starting point but, as written, I thought it was pretty bland - I added a lot more soy sauce, Hoisin sauce, sesame oil, and also some Oyster sauce. I also threw in a couple of shredded carrots and a handful of beansprouts too. This turned out really good, but it definitely needed some adjustments.

My DH and I liked this, but I don't think it's something we'll eat on a regular basis. IMHO it needs some more vegetable (maybe some broccoli and grated carrot). I may try it again, but will add more veg and will reduce the amount of sherry used because I found the flavour to be quite strong.

I have to agree that this did not taste like any take-out I've ever had either. At least it was edible.

Stunning... however I do find that adding a bit more hoi-sin sauce and soy sauce make the flavour quite a bit stronger.

My family loves this. I use the whole bok choy (not just the leaves). I separate the stalk of the bok choy from the leaves. Cut the stalks up and cook those with the onions (I use lots of onions too). Then add the bok choy leaves at the end like the recipe says.

I wasn't impressed. It just wasn't what the title implied. I haven't tasted take-out like this.

This is really good. However, I used Chinese sausage instead of chicken and I omitted the dry sherry and added more chicken broth since I was using egg noodles. I also used another clove of garlic and added some marinated fried tofu in there and it was terrific! Thanks for the recipe.

I rated this recipe with 5 stars as it is a perfect base recipe. Anyone can take this, play with it and make it suit specific taste preferences. If it is too oily, you have added TOO MUCH SESAME/CANOLA OIL. If it is not spicy enough for you, the ingredients listed are NOT spicy. You need to add red pepper flakes, curry or other spice of your choice to GET IT THAT WAY. Not enough flavor for you? Rummage through your spices and have at it! A nice twist to the hoisin sauce is to use black bean and garlic paste. Throw in a little fish sauce. Play with the veggies. Have FUN with this recipe!

This was really great! The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because I think it needs more vegetables. It is a great base recipe, and if you like more flavor- just add it! I personally like more of a sesame flavor, so I added more sesame seeds. More Bok choy is absolutely necessary! Thank you for the recipe! My husband and I really enjoyed it.

This was not one of my favorites. I thought the sauce tasted a little odd and was not spicy enough for my tastes. A quick, easy recipe, but I won't make this again.

Very tasty. I used rotisserie chicken. And added some peas for color. I also added some more bok choy that I stir fried after this was complete to add to it. The bok choy that is called for cooks down so much that it doesn't seem like it is there. A little cornstarch to thicken the sauce and it is perfect. I served with egg rolls and skewered grilled beef and and it was very yummy. The noodles are great warmed up the next day!

Not really that great. It was pretty tasty, but not really flavorful. There was no kick, which surprised me because of the sesame oil and the hoisin sauce that I added. O well, not bad though.

I would make this again. It was a good meal to bring for lunch. My only issue was that all the liquid ingredients I added, besides the hoisin sauce, evaporated.

I don't think I'll make this again because it was greasy and bland. It reminded me of really bad Chinese takeout. Maybe I've just gotten too used to food with a lot of spice though...
