I followed the recipe without any modifications and it turned out very good. It had a robust flavor and went great over rice. The only reason I do not give it an full 5 stars is because I would recommend a better cut of meat. If you use the recommended cut of beef make sure that you cut it extremely thin so it will not be tough and chewy.

This was very good. I took the advice of others and doubled the sauce. I also didn't have rice wine, so I used 1/2 the amount called for and used rice wine vinegar. Delicious!

HELPFUL TIPS AFTER MAKING THIS ALL MY LIFE: Being Asian, I love running into recipes that remind me of things I already make. The most important thing to take from these reviews is to DOUBLE THE SAUCE. My relatives would not want to eat any of these that have made this as is. ...just doesn't taste like anything you'd have at a good restaurant (as this is american chinese, not authentic). Doubling the sauce ingred. was just the right amount of sauce to accompany a side of rice. Don't overcook the steak. Frying until you get a nice brown color is the perfect way to tell if it's done & the estimate times on the recipe are pretty accurate assuming your slices are thin. Any mixture of veggies work (mushrooms, carrots, frozen peas, red peppers, sliced zucchini, water chestnuts). Red Wine VINEGAR is an acceptable substitution, but I'd encourage you to try more recipes on this site using rice vinegar!

I followed the recipe except for the rice wine. It's really hard to find ingredients like that in the country I live in so I substituted some dry red wine for it. I also threw in some baby corn and red pepper. It was a very basic, good stir-fry. Each guest was able to add thai chili sauce and other things to their individual plate according to their taste.

great recipe as is. I noticed other reviews commenting on too much vinegar. The recipe calls for rice wine not rice wine vinegar.

I loved this and so did my entire family. I added some bell pepper strips and water chestnuts. The sauce is fantastic and tastes very authentic. Thanks for the post.

This was a really great and simple recipe as is!! No need to make any changes unless you wanted to add more veggies. I doubled the sauce as recommended so you had some for the rice and it was great!

I was looking for something quick(still wondering what to make at 6:15pm). I pulled some round steaks out of the fridge and found this recipe. I served this with ramen noodles. We were eating before 7. We love this recipe!

I don't know what happened but the sauce didn't thicken at all. It was watery and I tried to give it more time to thicken, but by then my beef had overcooked. I was eager for this to be good because it would be pretty healthy, but it was a disappointment.

flavor was OK, maybe it's just personal preference. i'd probably use less vinegar and more sugar to suit my taste.

This was pretty good - not spectacular which is why I only did 4 and not 5 stars, but pretty good. Easy to make, and it is a good base for whatever variations you want to make with additional veggies and such. I doubled the sauce since I added extra vegetables and we served it with rice. I'm sure I will make this one again.

I have made this many times now. I use reduced sodium soy sauce because my husband sholdn't have full strength due to heart trouble. I love the taste of this myself eventhough I am not a fan of soy sauce. I now make this atleast once a week and am making it for family dinner night this week.

Great flavor. Need to use sirloin - I marinated the round steak and it was still a little tough.

I couldn't get over how quick and easy this was to make! The only problem that I had with the recipe was my own fault. I didn't realize we didn't have any soy sauce so I used teriyaki sauce instead but it turned out fantastic! I did make about double the sauce because I too doubted how far the sauce would go. I also added about 4 or 5 more ounces of snow peas because my family is crazy about them. I have already been requested to make this again :) Thanks!
