This recipe was delicious over egg noodles and would be great over mashed potatos or rice. I added sauted celery & mushroom pieces and nxt time i might even add diced jalepeno to spice it up! Endless possibilties with this and VERY cheap, easy & quick. A++++++++

Ah good ole SOS. I remember having this as a kid. A few days ago I was trying to figure out what to do with a package of hamburger so I came here and did a search and ran across this recipe. I hadn't thought about SOS in DECADES. Made it for supper and 4/5 recommended having it again. Guess that's a good sign. The other one is a fussy eater and said...mom you don't put "whatchamacallit" sauce in GRAVY. Never should have let him see the bottle on the counter. Oh the joys of mothering a teenage picky eater!

My mother made this for me when I was young. The only difference is that she omitted the bouillon and the worcestershire sauce. I make it now for my own children. I like to have this for breakfast on toast.

While I liked that this was quick and simple to make, and that I also had all the ingrediants on hand, I didn't particularly care for the taste. It had a very floury taste to me, maybe part of the issue was that I used 97% lean ground beef so there wasn't enough fat the make a good roux, but I'm not sure. I did add tons of pepper, garlic and onion powders, ground mustard and some chili powder, but it wasn't enough to mask the flour. I'm glad that I tried this recipe, but I won't be making it again, sorry.

I add sauteed mushrooms and onions to this and serve it over noodles. My husband loves it and he's picky sometimes. It has great flavor.

This is great for a quick mid week meal when you are in a rush. I also added sliced onions and a crushed garlic clove.

I loved this recipe, instead of beef bullion I used a package of brown gravy! *YUM* It is a fast, easy, awesome recipe and my two year old even ate it!

This is a great recipe. My Mom always made it when I was a kid and all she could remember about it was that my Dad ate it in the Army. I added onion when browning my ground beef. Adds great flavor. It's good over noodles or rice.

This was decent. I added lots of pepper and cooked the beef with onion and garlic to give it some more flavor. I'll probably make it again just because it uses ingredients I almost always have on hand, but it's not one of my favorites.

I have never cared for the taste of plain, unseasoned ground beef, so I liberally seasoned the browning beef with garlic powder, Lawry's season salt and pepper. I also added a half an onion, diced, to the beef. I really didn't measure the Worchestershire sauce, just let some bobble on out of the bottle, but I'm sure it was more than 1/4 teaspoon. I also added a cup of frozen peas with the milk. I served this over refrigerated jumbo whomp biscuits from a cardboard can. Very comforting and good. Will definitely make again.

Good but a little bland for my taste. My husband liked it. On the advice of other reviewers I added 3 cloves garlic and one onion when browning the beef. I also doubled the Worcestershire sauce. Still bland. I would suggest adding additional spices.

This is a great quick meal. I add chopped onion with the ground beef and serve it over buttered toast. It doesn't look so appealing, my 5 year old son said yuck. But I told him it's what the soldiers eat, so he took a bite and really liked it!
