This recipe is the new favorite for my husband and I. The muffins are so yummy. I didn't have applesauce so I mashed some home canned pears, and I used whole wheat flour instead.

My husband loved these muffins. They are very dense and heavy, but taste pretty good. I made my own applesauce from various species of apples we had in the house and weren't going to get around to eating. I think that added to the really good apple taste. I reduced the butter to 1/3 cup (just to see how it would turn out) with the second batch and it was just as good. We will make this again.

These are very delicious, moist and easy too make. I doubled the recipe and baked them in a jumbo muffin pan, so they took close to 20 minutes to bake. I will definitely be making these again!

This is just incredible! Very moist, flavorful and YUMMY! I have made this twice now. Once the way it is written and the second time I used the Raspberry Sauce recipe on this site in place of the applesauce called for in this recipe. A very yummy variation. Plan to try using the raspberry sauce recipe with blackberries or strawberries or blueberries as well. Definitely a must have recipe! So easy to make too! Even my 2 year old and 6 year old have fun making these (and gobbling them up too, if Daddy doesn't get to them first!)

I have been meaning to rate this muffin. It is a good tasting muffin and a great base. I made them again today and added crumbled dark chocolate (just a tad) in each muffin and added pecans on top. My husband and daughter love them!

These were tasty and I made them as described except I substituted 1/2 c. of high altitude whole wheat flour for 1/2 of the flour. I also added about 2/3 cup of chopped pecans to the tops of the muffins before adding the spinkled sugar (I used turnbinado) and baking. These did not rise very much at Denver's altitude, but I'm used to that! Next time I make them I'll try cutting the butter quantity a bit to make them slightly more figure-friendly. I'll report back if my tinkering is successful. Thanks for this yummy muffin recipe!

Very dense. Edible and good warm. Not very good day after. But I will try again and try tweaking. Good recipe though!

Great recipe for a Saturday morning treat. Next time I might use powdered sugar on top when they come out of the oven though the regular sugar was good too.

I thought this muffin was pretty good. The flavor was nice and the kitchen smelled amazing while they were cooking. I added some cloves, brown sugar and used cinnamon applesauce. The only issue I have was about the density of the muffins. You have to drink some milk behind these!

When I made this as is it was a little bland. I made it with Raisins for my husband which helped but he still grabbed the canister of frosting to sweeten it up. It is very moist but needs either some nuts added or some dried fruit to give it more taste.

I did not make these muffins as a mix, I just made the muffins. Oh my, they were so good. My 3 yr old calls them her special muffins now. She got really upset when I wanted to share some of the muffins with her grandparents! So delicious, moist and tender. These are the best!!

We are moving in a few weeks, so I was looking for a muffin I could make with what was left in my pantry. I had to make a few adjustments based on what I had: We didn't have eggs, so added some sour cream. I also used Smart Balance oil in place of the butter. I threw in a tsp of flax seed, a tbs of wheat germ and a handful of dried apple pieces. I reduced the recipe and made 5 muffins- they were delicious! Thanks for this versatile recipe. I can't wait to make it again (as written this time!)

I made this yesterday for the first time and ended up with a very good, very moist muffin. I did make a couple of changes due to the stock I had on hand. I used 1/2c plain and 1/2 cup with cinnamon applesauce for the 9 muffin recipe and added some raisins (1/4 cup) to the batter. I wouldn't give this recipe a "heart healthy" rating due to the refined flour and stick of butter. However, I plan to play around with it and see if whole wheat flour with whole oats and more applesauce to replace some of the butter will work as well. Over all, though, very pleased and like the idea of making in advance to give as gifts.

Great basic, fluffy and tasty muffin. I needed to feed the in-laws on the fly with stuff in my cupboard, and they just ooed and aawed, and ate every last muffin! I added craisins, a pinch of nutmeg and a crumble top with pecans before baking. The great thing about this recipe is that the possibilities are endless, just throw in whatever you've got to jazz em up and you've got your new favorite muffin recipe! Thanks a ton!

These are very good muffins. I used cinnamon applesauce and brown sugar on the top of the muffins, but other than that, I followed the recipe exactly.
