This was good, but I didn't expect it to be a little dry and tasteless. So I will make it again, but with a few changes like adding some spice and finding a way to make 'em moister.

I added 1 t. cinnamon. The batter was really thick, so I also added 4 t. milk. For the topping I substituted, 4 T. butter, 4 T. packed brown sugar, 6 T. flour and 6 T. rolled oats.

This is a good recipe to use up a lot of apples. The apples I used had been in cold storage for months and were cooking quality only. I cored, sliced and chopped them up with minimal effort in a blender (one apple at a time, since I don't have a food processor). 4 cups of chopped gala apple is what I used as well as half sugar & half Splenda and extra spice as many other reviewers suggest. Valentine cupcake liners made them festive for the occasion.

A little cinnamon or something in these wouldn't hurt, but they are beautiful, tasty muffins! My new favorite thing to do to apples. :)

Wow, after all the "these are so moist" comments, I was surprised to find them a little dry. The taste was okay, but I'm thinking I need to try again with different apples. Don't know if it will help, but I'm not ready to write this recipe off, yet.

DONT PANIC! Yes the batter is thick, but these muffins turn out great. Quite the opposite of some other muffins I love to make where the batter is so runny! They are a little drier than expected. I used 2 cups of apples. I also added 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp. nutmeg and 1/4 tsp. cloves to the recipe. And added 1/2 tsp. nutmeg to the topping recipe. Served great with tea!

I made this recipe two times last night- once using a coffee cake pan, the other using a muffin tin. Both came out pretty ugly, but really yummy. They were better the next day, after the humidity softened the streudel topping; when it comes straight out of the oven, the topping was crunchy.

This was an O.K. recipe. I added about an 1/8 of a tsp. or less to the "coarse crumbs."To that I ended up putting in a little more butter, also. The topping deflated the tops and the dimesized apple chunks that we used were to big and took up more than half the muffin! They also "bubbled up " in the middle, making for less muffin. Was very moist, but over all VERY GOOD! I would GLADLY RECOMEND THIS RECIPE TO A CLOSE FRIEND! :)

The muffins were pretty good, I added a tablespoon of All-Spice to give them some extra flavor. The topping melted all over my stove though. I suggest placing a cookie tray under the muffins while they cook.

I love this recipe! I've made this recipe exactly as it states so many times before and each time it turned out great! I've also added things to it such as adding 1/3 cup of oats to the flour and 1/3 cup of my sister's favorite flowery tea (Monk's Blend) along with 1/8 of a teaspoon of Chinese Five Spice powder and a few tablespoons of caramel ice cream topping. I also accidentally added the white sugar to the flour so I added an extra 1/4 cup of loosely packed brown sugar to the butter. In the end the muffins turned out great! You can't really taste the tea or the five spice powder but they give the muffins a little hint of something extra.

I replaced canola oil for the butter, reduced the sugar to 3/4 cup, used 1/2 cup Egg Beaters for the eggs and added a bit of cinnamon to the batter. Also doubled the streusel topping. Wonderful!!
