This was just ok. I was looking for something closer to coffee cake. The muffins were good, but I added cinnamon to the second pan of batter and made more streusel for the topping for extra flavor. I was worried that the "filling" was going to be liquidy, but it wasn't, it bakes nicely into the muffin. The muffins do turn out nice and puffy and are attractive.

This recipe is very easy to make using the cake mix and applesauce. I needed to double the amount of filling and topping for the amount of batter. They are more like a cake then a muffin, lighter, not as dense. I used a french vanilla cake mix, since that is all I had. Good recipe, but could have a little more flavor throughout the whole muffin.

These muffins are delicious! And the applesauce makes the recipe super easy. Definitely recommend these.

I am always looking for new snacks for my daycare kids. I made these muffins in my mini muffin pan with a white cake mix (all I had) and topped them with a cinnamon glaze - powdered sugar, cinnamon and a little milk. The kids ate them up! - my 2nd grader said they tastes like mini cinnamon rolls. I thought the batter was a little thick so might thin it out next time and use milk instead of the water Thanks for a new snack idea!

Made these last night for my daughter's kindergarten class for Johnny Appleseed Day. I got a note at 8:00 at night asking for something made with apples and of course I didn't have any apples but had lots of applesauce. So searched the site for any recipe that called for applesauce instead of apples and found this one! They turned out great! Anything made with yellow cake mix as the base is great. (Look up snickerdoodles cookies using yellow cake mix on this site -they're fabulous too!) Thanks for the great new muffin recipe!

This recipe was very easy. The muffins tasted great. I just made them this moring for a friends visit. They are very moist and had a good rise on each muffin. I used Gala apples instead of tart apples and they worked well. Enjoy this one.
