These bars are the best!! The only thing I did differently is to add more apple, i just didn't think that 1/2 cup was enough. I used 1 whole apple. Otherwise, Awesome!

This was GREAT! I had to stop myself from eating the whole pan- everyone loved them! I doubled the recipe and baked in 9X13 with extra apples. So moist and the walnuts made them super spectacular! I will definitely be making them again and again

I loved this! My family loved this! I used extra apples b/c I wanted mine to be "meaty." I served it warm with vanilla ice cream. YUM! I will definitely be making this again.

These are excellent, but I do feel they are more of a coffee cake texture than an actual square/bar texture. Unlike most reviewers, I made the original recipe for a small square pan. Per reviews, I made the following modifications and was very pleased with the result. 1.) I cut back the sugar to 1/3 cup for each the white and brown sugar 2.) I used an entire apple, about 1 full cup and left out the nuts 3.) I didn't make the full cinnamon/sugar topping amount. They turned out very moist and everyone loved them. They are extremely easy to make and I will definitely make them again. Excellent for either a dessert or breakfast item.

These smelled great and tasted good, but were a total mess. I couldn't even cut mine out of the pan without them falling apart. I cooked them 10 minutes longer then directed and they were still gooey and too soft on the inside. Maybe I did something wrong, but they didn't work out for me.

So good. I just made them tonight. There is just one piece left, but maybe not for long. I used one whole apple (peeled, cored, and chopped of course) instead of measuring out 1/2 c. - so as not to waste part of an apple. And I didnt have walnuts, so omitted them. They were done in my oven after about 20 minutes baking. I did reduce the amount of cin/sug topping, per other reviewers, giving it a sprinkle all over, but not a thick coating. They were great. Thanks for the recipe. I will be making these again...and again...

Very good. I followed a few of the suggestions by other reviewers - cut down slightly on the sugars, doubled the chopped apple, reduced the suger/cinnamon topping and drizzled with carmel apple dipping sauce after it's cooked. Yum. Next time I might try a crumb type topping or a cream cheese topping but I will definately be making this again soon! **Update - made it a second time & doubled the recipe but still used the 9x9 pan. Used 1 1/2 c Granny Smith apples rather than Gala like I did the first time & added a dash of almond extract. I also used pecans this time while the first time I omitted the nuts. Even better than the first time! Family loved it and I will be making it this way at their request often!

Absolutely delicious! I modified it slightly, I used 1 tsp of cinnamon in with the dry ingredients, 2 cups of apples (cortland)and for the topping I used dark brown sugar and half the cinnamon. I will most definitely at least double this recipe next time, if not triple. This is a keeper for sure! Thank you for the recipe!

I just made these and they are great! To make them a little healthier, I added 2 Tablespoons of applesauce and only used half the butter. I also doubled the apple. They are wonderful and smell so good that my kids came downstairs to ask what I was making. Thanks for the great recipe.

really yummy - used a large granny smith that was probably 1 to 1 1/2 cups when chopped, reduced white sugar to 1/4 cup. Delish!!

LOVE these! So moist they fall apart easily but they're SO good! I doubled the recipe, used 2 good sized apples, cut the sugars to 3/4c each (which was plenty) and added 1/4c applesauce. Delicious! My husband would prefer this to chocolate cake!

These were outrageous!!! I did not have any walnuts, so I just used apple and it still was great. Definately a keeper. I plan on making it again tomorrow for company but I will make a a walnut and brown sugar topping instead.

These are delicious!! I doubled the recipe (and glad I did!) and baked in a 9x13 pan. Did a little powdered sugar/milk glaze drizzled on top when the pan was still warm and I really liked it.

I just made these and they are delicious!! I upped the apples to 1 cup and decreased the cinnamon for the topping to 1 tsp. It made my house smell just like an apple pie baking! Soooo good! This is definitely a favorite!

I made these last night, and ate one third of the pan almost immediately. The recipe is easy, quick and perfect just the way it is. The cake part is dense and moist. This will be made often. Thanks!
