Very good! I doubled the recipe but cut the sugar to 1 1/2 cups (total), and used about 2 cups of chopped apples. A family hit!

I was looking for an alternative bar recipe instead of the same old brownies I always make and came upon this recipe. Wow! They are absolutely delicious. Very moist and gooey with just the right amount of apple flavor. The cinnamon/sugar topping adds an extra special touch. I will definitely be making this recipe again.

I always read the daily new reviews - it's a great way to see what everyone is trying and a nice way to find good recipes. I noticed everyone was making these and loving them...well I have now made them and love them. Next time I will double the recipe because my out of town company has devoured these in less than a couple of hours. This recipe is definately a keeper and a remaker :-)!!!

Pretty good stuff. So "autumny"! I spread it into a 9X13 and only baked it about 12 minutes. They were yummy. I think next time I would double it and try the powder sugar icing. Better warmer than cooler. My guys said I better make this again and soon.

Delish! As per other reviews, I added 2 cups chopped apples, reduced the sugar to 1/2 c. sucanat, increased the cinnamon to 1 tsp. in the batter, added 1/4 c. apple cider and omitted the walnuts (personal preference). I baked it for exactly 25 minutes and it wsa very moist and flavorful. Next time as per other reviewers I will double or triple the recipe. It was wonderful! I just made this again with pears from our tree and it was just as good!

Flavor-wise, these are probably a 10. The texture, however, was funny to me. It was cakey on bottom, cobbler-like on top, and gooey in the middle. Maybe I didn't bake them long enough? Either way, they didn't last too long at my house. Will absolutely make again.

Excellent recipe except for the amount of sugar.1 cup is way too much sugar and makes the cake very sweet. I used only 1/2 cup of brown sugar and it was plenty sweet. Overall loved the recipe:)

This recipe was sensational! I made it this past weekend and my husband who usually does not like cinnamon, fell in love with these! Thank you so much! It made the end of the night dessert so much better!

I made these for work and they were a hit. I doubled the amount of apples and used a smaller pan so they would be thicker. Several people wanted the recipe. Make sure you watch the last 5-10 minutes of baking because it is hard to determine when the bars are done.

Delicious!! A winner in my book! Doubled the recipe for a 13x9 pan, omitted the nuts, used 2 cups of chopped apples instead. Made this cake twice over the weekend and already my family is asking for it again.

Quick & Easy! I didn't have enough flour so I used 1/2 cup flour and 1/2 cup of oatmeal and it worked great. Also threw in just a small handfull of white choc. chips and I peeled & sliced a whole granny smith apple, tossed it with the cinn. & sugar and laid the slices on top of the batter for a really nice presentation. My kids loved this recipe so it's a keeper! Thanks!

I omitted the nuts because we don't like nuts in baked goods. I have made two pans in two days, that is how good these bars are. I used it as a breakfast food.

Four stars good. I wasn't as impressed with these as some of the reviewers who rated it more highly. They were good, but I doubled the recipe (as is just doesn't make enough). Even doubling, I thought it necessary to add an extra 2/3 cup of chopped apple (I used Braeburns). 1 cup of apples (1/2 cup in the original recipe), just didn't seem enough. And still the squares came out on the dry side. Maybe the poster should ammend her advice about waiting until they bounce back before taking out of the oven, or perhaps oven temp is too high? They can probably come out a few minutes earlier, and next time (yes I will make these again, they were, overall very good, just not what I expected) I will add more apples also. The recipe doesn't specify whether apples should be peeled first before chopping. I peeled mine, maybe that's the issue?? Did anyone else find these a tad on the dry side?

These bars are the best!! The only thing I did differently is to add more apple, i just didn't think that 1/2 cup was enough. I used 1 whole apple. Otherwise, Awesome!
