These are really good. I double the amount of apple though and they turn on great! I also dont put in nuts. It turns out very moist and delicious!

My family loved this!! I used half the total amount of sugar, though, and added 1/4c apple juice. I thought this may have made it a little dry, but everyone else loved it, and thats all that matters!!

These are good but the recipe seems a little off. I doubled it and baked it in a 9X13 pan. My only change was using twice the apple called for. They are incredibly sweet -too sweet and I love sweets. The cinnamon-sugar topping is way too much so if you use it I recommend cutting it down quite a bit. I actually think a glaze, like many reviewers used, would probably be better. Besides a sugar adjustment, the flavor and texture were very good and it would be great with some vanilla ice cream! I baked them 30 minutes but after cooling, I think they could have used another 5 minutes or so.

These are awesome! I made them for an early Mother's Day dinner last night, and everyone liked them. So simple to make, and I always have all the ingredients on hand. My husband already asked if I was making another batch today! Thanks for a delicious recipe!

Made these yesterday and the Husband could not stop eating these. I think the icing top would have been a better choice instead of the white sugar. I did use power sugar on top to give it some color. Next time I will do the icing.

This recipe is very good. Like many other reviewers recommended, I doubled the recipe, added more apple, but did not double the sugar/cinnamon topping - which I used half granulated sugar and half brown sugars. It was very good, thank you for the recipe!

It was my son's turn to bring the snack for his cub scout troop so we made these together. They were very good, kind of reminded me of apple pie. However, I don't know if my pan was a bit too small or what, but it turned out about the size (thickness) of a cake.

These were VERY good. I made some healthy changes to this recipe and it was still delicious. Here are my changes -Half white flour/half wheat -1TBSP milled flax+ 3 tbsp water mixed well replacing the egg (we were out) -one whole small apple, diced small which was a heaping half cup, rather than just a half cup. -replaced white sugar with half white sugar half Splenda. -pecans instead of walnuts The batter was VERY dry when mixed like cookie dough consistency (probably because of my flax substitute) so I added a few splashes of white grape juice that we happened to have in the fridge. Baked at 350 for about 30 min. The problem now, is that I've eaten 3 of them. Defeats the purpose of the healthy changes!

I don't think I'll make these again. They turned out fine, but they just don't pack a lot of flavor, to me. The only difference I made from the original was to double it and use a 9x13.

A good recipe for a healthier snack/treat. I can see this being used as either a snack or dressed up for a dessert--drizzle some butterscotch or caramel sauce...a little whipped cream or vanilla ice cream...served with the apple square. Yum! It isn't QUITE a 5-star recipe, but great nonetheless. --I baked in 8x8 glass pyrex and it needed about 35 minutes.

the basic recipe is good as is...well maybe a bit on the sweet side but that is personal preference. my 2nd time making this recipe i made some changes: i double the recipe BUT left the brown sugar and white sugar the same at 1/2cup each. (note: this is personal preference), used wheat flour instead of all purpose, 1/4cup olive oil & 1/4cup applesauce, 3 medium sized granny smith apples, added some raisins. the result was an apple square that was a bit denser, lite sweet taste but totally guilt free.

I didn't try these so I have to write this review based on hub's report. He said these were the kind of thing he could eat till he got sick on they were that good. Five stars, he said, and better than his all-time favorite butterscotch cookies. Wow! I used Granny Smith apple, left out the nuts at hub's request and glazed them (right on top of the cinnamon sugar topping) with a butterscotch glaze I kind of just threw together as an experiment: 2 T. each of butter, brown sugar and cream, boiled for a couple of minutes, added about 1/2 tsp. vanilla, then more cream and powdered sugar till desired consistency. These are chewey, subtley cinnamony and appley with a butterscotch finish (his words, not mine). Definitely a make again!
