Cake came out great! I did cut up the apples a little because they were really big.

This cake was very dry using the recipe as written. The can of apple pie filling I used was mostly large apple chunks - if it had been less fruity and more watery/syrupy the cake may have turned out better. I won't be making this again.

This is pretty basic to make but very good to snack on. We had it for breakfast with some coffee. This would be great with an added crumb topping as well.

This dessert received mixed reviews from my family. Almost everyone raved about it but one person felt it had a weird aftertaste. It was also rather crumbly in texture for cake. Here are the changes that I made after reading previous reviews: substituted 2 Tbsp. apple butter and 1 Tbsp. applesauce for the vegetable oil and topped with store bought whipped cream cheese frosting. Next time (and there will be a next time) I'll add another egg (or use egg substitute and XX of it to cut out the fat even more) to keep it from being so crumbly. Thanks for posting and for the helpful reviews:)

Very good and easy recipe. I used 2 tbs. apple butter and 1 tbs. oil. It was just missing some kind of topping which I plan on adding next time.

A great and easy recipe. Cake turned out really moist and could not have been easier to make. I used the vanilla glaze recipe from this site to drizzle over the cake.

I make this cake all the time, sometimes with very slight variations, and it always comes out wonderfully, even with 3 TBS. of applesauce instead of the oil. Thank you for the super recipe!

Delicious and easy! I followed the recipe exactly, it's very rich and moist. Beating it with the mixer breaks the apple slices into smaller pieces, which I like. I frosted it with Caramel Frosting V from this website. My man and I love this cake, especially with the caramel frosting. Like a caramel apple!

First time making an apple cake....there are several listed on this site. I chose this one because it seemed hassle free, BINGO!! I read wrong and used 2 cans of Apple Pie filling, but I'm glad I did, because you get more apple in your slices. I tasted while still warm and it seemed a little dry for my personal taste. So I frosted it with Cream Cheese Frosting. It was much better, BUT now it's too sweet for me. Oh well, portion control I guess..lol (My family LOVES it with the frosting!) I think making it as written, then topping with the Vanilla Glaze recipe that can be found on here, would be the right touch I was looking for in this cake. Will absolutely make it again, but will try with the glaze next time.

Delicious!!! So easy. I didn't mix mine with a mixer, because it would have broken up the apple slices. My family loved it!

Absolutely great recipe. So very easy. Both my husband and daughter loved it. Frosted it with Cream cheese frosting II with half the powdered sugar.

WOW! This is a great recipe... So easy and very delicious results. My kids devoured this and enjoyed taking some in their lunchboxes. I used 3 egg whites instead of 2 whole eggs and it worked well. Also made a simple powdered sugar glaze to drizzle on top, to make it look pretty. My 13 x 9 pan was busy so I used my stoneware bundt pan and it turned out beautifully! This cake would be perfect for a pitch-in. Does NOT taste like it came from a cake mix. There are some good sugar-free pie filling varieties, sweetened with Splenda, and I may try one of those next time. Thanks for this great recipe!
