I have made this exact recipe at all my family dinners (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter) every year for 3 years now. My family loves it and couldn't imagine a family holiday without it! Thank you Grandma Ople- it will be passed down to my children and beyond!

This is a great recipe! It's the best tasting apple pie recipe I've come across and easy to make too. I've made it 3 times; 1st time exactly like the recipe, 2nd time with cinnamon powder added, and 3rd time with both cinnamon and nutmeg powder. They tasted great with or without variation. It is pretty forgiving with the amount of spice added too but do not add too much nutmeg as it tends to be pretty intense. I sprinkled the spices on the apple slices as I layered them. Remember to coat the top crust with the syrup as it will give them this nice golden brown without need for eggwash. Place a piece of aluminum foil over the pie if the crust gets overly brown in the midst of baking to prevent burning.

Delicious! I heeded the suggestions and added 1 T vanilla and 1 tsp of cinnamon. I also brushed egg whites on the bottom crust to prevent it from getting soggy, but that didn't seem to work...probably something I did wrong, but the pie was wonderful regardless. :) Will definitely make again!

Fantastic taste and looked amazing - this is an awesome apple pie. Prepared almost as directed - added vanilla and cinnamon to taste. Used pre-made pie shell (hate making my own). Everyone I shared it with raved about it. Really does live up to the hype. Thanks Grandma Ople

I have been using this recipe for YEARS. I love it and it is always a hit. For a fun twist throw some cut up caramels or red hots in with the apple before you pour the liquid mixture on top.

I had never made apple pie before this...but this one was great. It was very easy to make and it came out perfect. However, I did add a few things to it. I added a little vanilla extract to taste and used lots of cinnamon in the pie and on the top for color. The pie tasted wonderful. I don't think I will be able to use another recipe. Thanks.

This was the first Apple Pie I have ever made. (2nd pie ever) My husband said it was the best pie he has ever eaten! I love when that get's said, because it means alot. Thank you so much for sharing the recipe. I did add 1 tbs. vanilla, 1 tsp. cinnamon, 1/2 tsp nutmet to my mixture. I also used half granny smith and half red delicious apples. Husband said he really likes the flavor, it was like two different distinct flavors going on with the bitterness and then the sweetness. To make it easier on me i also used two frozen thawed pie crust. Also do make sure you have the remainder of the caramel mixture hot when you pour it on top of the crust on the top, it is alot easier to handle and smooth out. once again, GREAT RECIPE!

This has been the easiest and most delicious recipe I have ever made when it comes to apple pie. I was not so sure about cooking and boiling the sugar ingredients and then pouring over the top of crust and all, but I will forever use this Apple Pie recipe ! A most definite keeper...

I added much more spice as recommended and cooked the whole time at 375 but followed the rest of the recipe exactly. I also made this with honey crisp apples. My family has asked for it again this week they loved it so much!

I have used this recipe for about 3 years now. My husband who does not eat dessert, requested this pie for Thanksgiving. I use an apple peeler, corer, slicer for a uniform apple size. I use half granny smith and half Mac Intosh apples for a great blended flavor. I also sprinkle the apples with cinnamon and nutmeg before placing them in the pie. This is truely an easy and wonderful recipe. If you like firm apples in your pie, cook for stated len-gth, I like mine a little less firm so I cook about 10-15 mins longer. Up to a 1 hr 15 min.

this turned out wonderful, I did add a little cinnamon and nutmeg, and did not do a lattice crust, just poured the syrup over the apples put the to[ crust on with vent holes and poured just a little of the syrup I had saved over the top, turned out fantastic!
