FANTASTIC! Although, I agree with other reviewers, it needs the 1tsp of Cinnamon. Also, I used 7 Macintosh apples with 1 Granny Smith for a little tartness. I also mixed the apples and syrup in a separate bowl before putting in the crust and then saved a little syrup for the top of the crust. I used a pastry brush to spread it around the entire top.

Excellent! I made one two many pies and had to freeze one without baking it. I covered it with plastic wrap and then aluminum foil and froze it. A month later I thawed it for half a day and then put it in the oven as recipe says. Still came out just as great.

Awesome! This was the first pie I've ever made, and it turned out so well! Except for the fact that I couldn't get the lattice work down so I made a solid top with holes, so pouring the mix on after was a disaster I had to start over on the crust, but the second time I just poured it over apples then put solid crust on top!

Both times I've made this people have told me it's the best apple pie they've ever had! The older members of my family comment that it tastes just like the apple pies they had as kids. I followed the recipe with no changes.

Best apple pie I've ever made. It's a huge hit every single time I bake it. I actually toss the apples in the sauce and I use half Fuji apples and half Granny Smith and I add a pinch of cinnamon. Fantastic recipe!

My daughter and I made this last night for dinner. It was absolutely delicious! I added 1 tsp. of vanilla and cinammon as earlier reviewers suggested, removing 1 tsp. of water. I did not do a lattice top, instead my daughter used her small Pampered Chef apple-shaped cookie cutter on the top crust. Too cute! I also poured on 3/4 sugar mixture on apples, then put on the pie crust top, and lastly, poured the remaining sugar mixture on the top. This recipe is going in my permnant recipe box.

I'm not a huge apple pie fan but my family is. I added nutmeg and cinnamon. The only problem I had was I could not get the pie to bake on bottom. It had to bake a long time and by the time it was done the apples were soggy. Next time I will bake it on the very bottom rack. Maybe all the apples in it played in. I also put the apples through an salad shooter so they were thin. (A matter of convenience) although I like them chunky better.

yum and yum! I too added the sauce to the apples and also added a splash of vanilla and some cinnamon and nutmeg. However the recipe calls for WAY too many apples!! I only used 6 and i still had way too much spilling out of my pie that i had to make a mini pie. Next time i would do 4 or 5

This was my first time attempting to bake a pie from scratch. I made this for Thanksgiving and it was a hit! I did listen to some of the tips in the other reviews and made some adjustments. Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust recipe went perfect with this pie. For the crust I used butter-flavored shortening and added a tablespoon of water to make the dough more pliable. I added a tablespoon of vanilla and a teaspoon of cinnamon to this recipe and used red delicious apples instead of granny smith. Wonderful! I think next time I will try replacing the cinnomon with caramel to see how that turns out.
