I made this pie so far now, 4 times and everyone enjoyed it. I also tweak the pie, I added nutmeg and cinnamon and vanilla extract 2tsp to the pie and to my homemade pie crust. I cooked my crust for 15 mins and then I put the filling in the crust, then I just poured the syrup over the crust and and cooked it for 45 to 50 mins on 350.I'm allergic to fruit so I had my kids test it out for me and they at it within an hour ... Great recipe!!! I used the French Pastry Pie curst from this site. Using it for Thxsgiving....

AWESOME PIE!!! I have made this several times and it is a favorite. I usually add a little nutmeg and cinnamon to my recipe.

I LOVED this pie...I rarely make apple pies because mine usually don't turn out as good as Mrs. Smith's frozen apple pie, but, this was better! I poured half the good goo over the apples, then used a regular top curst. I cut 2 large slits in the top crust and poured the rest of the sugar mixture over the top crust. It looked great and tasted even better. Thanks!

Sorry--maybe it was my apples, which is probably the case, but we prefer cinnamon in our pie and think the brown sugar was too much.

Yummy! I made this pie for a family get-together, and they raved over it! Heed the advice over keeping the syrup hot. I did not, and it solidified. :( This will be my primary apple pie recipe from now on.

The absolute best apple pie I have ever had. I was worried it would be to tart with the granny smith apples but it was perfect I only needed 5 apples rather than 8 and I put in a tsp of cinnamon, but the first time I made it I did it exact to the recipe and it was still perfect! My husband won't eat apple pie anymore unless its this recipe! Thank you so much!

I made this pie for company one night because I wasn't in the mood for a crumble top pie. It was fantastic. It was the best apple pie recipe I have ever tried. I added a little bit of cinnamon and nutmeg to the apples for a little extra flavor. Fantastic!

This pie is very sweet yet delicious! My diabetic grandmother was angry she couldn't go back for seconds! I followed the ingredients exactly. I also found a very simple crust recipe on here somewhere that consisted of only butter, oil, water, and flour. It turned out very delicious and was not soggy at all. This is the first pie I have ever made and I was pretty intimidated but so far the few people that have tried it, loved it! The reason for the 4 stars and not 5 is that it is a little too sweet. Maybe less sugar next time in the sauce?

I have additionaly questions! I think I am doing something wrong! Hopefully someone can help! How long should the sugar/butter mixture simmer? I tried making the sugar/butter mixture twice but both times is turned out not so liquidy! It was imposible to pour through the lattice since it was so thick. I can't figure out what I've done wrong! Can someone help clarify.

I made this pie to a tee and to be honest it tasted just like a regular apple pie. Nothing really special about it. I know many will disagree. It has a nice flavor but like I stated just a normal apple pie.

This was delicious! I made it with fresh Golden Delicious apples and the taste was superb. I added some cinnamon and nutmeg to suite my own taste as well. But overall, this whole recipe is incredible and I will be making it again!! :-)

I could not believe how good this recipe was. I thought it wouldn't have as much flavor because i followed the directions exactly as listed and did not add any extras such as cinnamon or vanilla. As others have commented, it was just pefect. You would have thought that so much more went into making this pie than it actually did. I guess simplicity is the key.

Awesome recipe! This is the first pie I ever made, with excellent results. Let's just say my college mates were literally fighting over it. I have people requesting that I make more, & several people have asked me for the recipe. I did make a few adjustments: I cut the amount of sugar to about 3/4 of that in the original recipe (a like a bit of tartness) and added a tsp of honey & ground ginger for extra dimension. I also had a plum lying around, so I sliced it, added a bit of water & sugar & microwaved it. I then added the liquid to the syrup & arranged the plum slices on top of the apple filling. This is a bit of a surprise for the lucky recipient.
