This is not like other recipes that you get and they don't turn out right. This is a really great recipe..

This was a great tasting dish. The only change I would make next time (and there will be a next time with this recipe), is that I would cover it loosely with foil. The apples on top tended to dry out a bit.

PERFECT! I absolutely love this dessert. Granted it takes a bit of time to prepare (mostly the apples), but it is totally worth it.

one of the most amazing and easiest desserts. my boyfriend loves this more than home made apple pie. I only used brown sugar and melted some sugar in water to pour over the top layer of the apples to make it a bit glazed. sooo good.

I read this wrong the first time I made it and didn't realize that half the crumbles go under the apples and half on top - I'd put it all under and none on top! This time I did it right, and I now agree that this recipe is absolutely WONDERFUL! I do want to cut down the sugar next time I make it, just for the health aspect rather than the taste - it wasn't overly sweet, but I'm just hoping that if I use sweet apples, it can use less sugar. One note - I use thick rolled oats rather than the thin kind, which makes for a much more substantial and crispy crisp than if you use Quaker Oats or a similar thinly rolled oat. I saw some of the negative reviews, and I honestly think there must have been something done in the process of making it that went wrong - like mismeasuring or maybe using instant or fast cooking oats or something - in fact, someone said the crisp mix was powdery, which simply isn't possible if you've used good quality real rolled oats. I've made a lot of crisps, and this was truly one of the best ever.

I made this with Bramley cooking apples (as I am English) and it wasn't dry at all. They are jucier than dessert apples. Because of this I only put the 'crisp' on the top. It was a bit like an English Apple Crumble but better. The whole family loved it and asked for me to make it again. Great recipe!

WOW! This is really good and very easy. Instead of dividing the oatmeal mixture into a top and bottom portion, I made half the recipe and used it only on the top. The variety of apples also makes a big difference. Really tart apples are the best - use a tad more sugar.

Loved this easy recipe! I made it even easier by omitting the white sugar & exchanging 1 tsp. of the cinnamon for 1 tsp. allspice & just mixed the spices into the brown sugar mixture. Only lasted 1 1/2 days in my house! The oatmeal in the topping got me thinking this would be a great mix-in to plain oatmeal :) Try this - you'll make it again & again.

Very good. The crumble turned out a little dry for me, but I was trying to cut back on some of the butter. Turns out, you do need that to keep it sufficiently moist. I also dusted the apples themselves with some cinnamon/sugar mixture.

Simply scrumptious. Just like apple crumble but even better as it's got two layers of crumble. This was so popular I had to make it again the next day.

This recipe was awesome!! I made a pan for my boyfriend to to have with his kids, then I went home and made some for my sons. We used Fuji apples (my favorite for pies). When I made my batch though, I cut the sugar and cinnamon in half. But this is a delicious recipe nonetheless! Will keep this one with my favorites!
