This was a lovely and simple recipe! I actually forgot to add the white sugar prior to baking and I'm glad I did! It was plenty sweet with just the brown sugar in the topping/base, and I even used a tarter baking apple. I did add a little nutmeg as well, which was nice... Also, it ended up a tiny bit dry, probably because of the apples or something, or maybe because I forgot the white sugar, but regardless, it still tasted pretty great!

Used the "crumb" mixture only on the top after spraying the pan. Delicious! Used only a quarter cup of white sugar with the apple (golden delicious and another tart varietal that I can't remember!) and cinnamon (which I mixed in the pan before topping). Also, ended up adding a bit of extra butter, even after reducing the flour and oatmeal by 25%. Needed the full 40 mins of cook time but well worth the wait. Didn't even need ice cream!

This was great! I took another reviewers advice and only used 1/4 cup of white sugar instead of 1/2 cup and it was still very sweet. This is a keeper for sure. Husband and I both loved it so much we emailed it to friends.

Love this recipe! Followed advice of another reviewer and shook my apples in the cinnamon and sugar mixture, works great! I also dabbed a bit more butter on top before baking. I didn't measure my cinnamon, so I am sure I used more, just love cinnamon so wonderful flavor to me. The guests I served it to agreed. They like it so well I gave them the copy of the recipe I had printed off. Now my "goto" apple crisp recipe. Maybe we will have apple crisp for Thanksgiving! Easy and so goooooood!

This recipe is perfect as is. Sometimes I add dried cranberries or raisins to the apples in a Ziploc bag and shake them up with the sugar and cinnamon. Or if it's just the apples, sometimes I add a little nutmeg.

I am culinarily challenged. so made it exactly as written (as I was craving some comfort food). This was amazing! A little richer than I remembered, but simply amazing! I may cut down on the brown sugar and flour next time, but this was absolutely amazing! Thanks, Dave!

Amazing!! I used whole wheat flour instead of white. I didn't peel the apples. I threw the chopped apples in a ziploc bag with sugar and cinnamon. I used less sugar by the way and it still came out very yummy. Everyone loved it!

Good, but too much topping. I skipped the white sugar entirely and liked the oatmeal cookie taste, but there was just way too much of it for 3 cups of apples. Plus, the topping is very heavy and thick (not crumbly). I still loved the flavors, I'd just use more apples next time.

Very good, we really enjoyed this apple crisp. I used only 1/3 cup of sugar over the apples and it was enough for our taste. Next time I will bake it less than 45 minutes, my apples were all melted and I prefer nice and firm.

Very good apple crisp. I put more cinnamon in it just for my taste and I use real butter vs margarine, it just melts better, imo

My family and I really love this. For the past 3 Sundays I have made it for them. This is soooo good with vanilla ice cream! I too, thought it was a little dry. I did use whole wheat flour instead of all-purpose white and less sugar. I tasted my apples and they were super sweet so I was actually able to cut the sugar in half and not feel too bad about putting ice cream on top.

I liked this recipe a lot seeing as though it was very easy and using only one bowl is always a plus in my house. I should have listened to other reviews because it did turn out dry although we combined ours with vanilla icecream and it was just fine! Deffinatly will make this again, although I may follow another reviewer's comment about adding butter and less oats and flour. Thanks so much for sharing!

My husband raved over this recipe. The only thing I did differently was to toss the apples in the cinnamon and sugar instead of sprinkling. My husband requested that next time I double the amount of topping...he thinks it's the best part.

Excellent! Followed recipe exactly but used 4 1/2 cups apple (i love apples). my apple of choice was the Mutsu, tastes like a cross between a golden delicious and a granny smith but not as tart as the granny. great choice for an apple crisp!
