The product of this recipe was sickeningly sweet (this is coming from someone with a sweet tooth). Even though I used tart Granny Smith apples, I ended up throwing away most of the cake; it was inedible. My advice to someone trying this would be to cut the 1 cup of sugar [probably in half].

excellent recipe! i used real sugar, eggs, and sweetened apple sauce< and it turned out perfect! make sure to use the same sized pan listed in the recipe... I used a much larger one out of sheer laziness and regret not taking the extra effort to wash the correct one. still very very good!
