It's in the 80's today, so I wanted something I could adapt to put in the crockpot. I sauteed some onion and layered that in the bottom of the crockpot, then added a sliced green apple (which I soaked in a little saltwater to keep it from browning), then added in the kielbasa which I also sauteed. I used Martinelli's apple cider in place of the apple juice (that's all I had on hand) and made a sort of thick gravy with the cider, apple butter and maple syrup and poured it over everything in the crockpot. A couple of hours to meld the flavors and we should be rarin' to go. Super easy and it smells fantastic! EDITED TO ADD: This was a hit with the whole family. My husband made a comment about that if I made this next time, I should double it so he could have had seconds. Very good.

This was good. My husband gave it 4 stars because he found it a little too sweet. My son gave it 200 stars LOL. I do this it was a little sweet for me too. Next time I'll try cutting back the jelly and maple syrup and add some fresh apples instead. This was great for a quick we're in a hurry kind of dinner.

My family really liked this recipe. We used turkey kielbasa, and I used grape jelly because we didn't have apple. Next time I make it, I'll double the recipe, and I think I'll back off on the syrup. It's a pretty sweet, thick sauce. I think you could easily use a sugar-free jelly and maybe thin it out with some juice if you want more of a sauce to pour over the meat.

I sauteed sliced onions first, browned the coins then followed the recipe as written. The onions were a nice addition and I liked that the kielbasa coins were slightly carmalized. I also made a larger batch to feed our family - using any extra juice like a 'gravy' for the rice I had as a side dish (green beans were the other side dish in case you're looking for complementary veggie to go with). It was very good, the whole family liked it and I would definately make it again. I would also make this as an appetizer. Thanks for a yummy recipe!
