I love to eat these! They are warm and light, yet very filling. Great on cold mornings. This recipe is from my great grandmother. Serve with warm maple syrup and wedges of lemon.

Being of Dutch descent, I knew I had to try this recipe for a moist, fruity quick bread. It freezes well, so I often have a loaf on hand for church bazaars.

In Castleford, Idaho, Gladys De Boer makes this moist, spicy bread often during the busy Christmas season. 'I wrap it and allow it to ripen for a day before slicing,' she informs. 'Serve it with cream cheese to enhance the old-fashioned gingerbread flavor.'
