Love, Love, Loved it!! I did make a couple of minor changes. I added a splash of lemon juice to the cut up apples to prevent browning and because it is out of habit. I also added some nutmeg to the spices and tossed all of the apples with the sugar and spices in a medium bowl before putting them into the pie. With the crumble I just made a minor adjustment by adding some brown sugar. This pie is the best apple pie that I've ever made and that comes straight from my hardest critic, my husband!! Will use for years to come, thank you!!

This is SCRUMPTIOUS!!! This is the very first pie I ever made and it came out PERFECT (if I do say so myself). My fiance and his son ATE IT UP! My fiance said the cinnamon was "just right" and not overpowering. I used the "BASIC FLAKY PIE CRUST" (added 1 teaspoon of vinegar and 1 Tablespoon of sugar to that recipe for sweetness & flakiness)recipe for the crust! Lovely!!! Highly recommended! A++

I'll make this again because of how easy it was. I added a little o.j. to the mix and a pad of butter before baking.

I love the crumb topping. It tasted great on the pie. I thought the filling was a little bland though. I think next time I will add a little more cinnamon and maybe some nutmeg.

This was amazing. I used Gala apples, and they were the perfect flavor! I used wheat flour for the pie crust and in the pie as well, it was just as good!

This recipe is soooo good!! I added 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and a quarter teaspoon of nutmeg. I used 2 granny smith and 2 fuji apples which made up just about 5 cups of apple. The rest of the recipe I followed exactly and it turned out great! YUM!

This was the first apple pie I'd ever made (I used it with Best Ever Pie Crust from this website). It was a huge hit at the picnic I brought it to. I couldn't believe how easy it was. Great recipe!

This was a hit! My husband and friends loved it. They couldn't believe the filling wasn't store bought. My mom even came over to have a peice. This will be a tradition to make over holidays now. I did change a few things. I mixed the apples, surgar, and cinnamon together along with 1/2 tbs of flour and added it to the crust. The filling came out at a perfect consistency.

OMG!!!Been looking for the perfect apple crumble and this is it!!My boyfriend couldnt stop raving about it.I made my own pie crust and instead of layering the apples and sugar mixture,i tossed the apples with 1/2cup white sugar,1/4cup flour and 1/2tsp cinnamon and then placed it in the crust..this way,the filling is not runny.Definitely a keeper!!Thanx for posting this magnificent recipe!!

mmmmmmm, how scrumptious! i made this wonderful recipe with a trinity of apples: granny smith, royal gala & rome (2 large apples of each variety). in effort to cut calories i omitted the bottom crust altogether, so my pie was more like a cobbler, then sprinkled on 1/3 c. sugar with a rounded 1/2 tsp. cinnamon & 1/4 tsp. nutmeg. no changes were made to the buttery crumble topping. my "pie" was done in 35 minutes & completely devoured by 6 people in less then 5 minutes. many thanks penny!

A definite favorite. I found that the pie sometimes turns out watery so I add 2-3 tablespoons of flour to the apple mixture.

Whenever I first try a recpe, I always follow it to the letter. This recipe was simple and straight-forward. The pie cooked up great. Very tasty. A little too sweet, though. I used about half the suggested sugar/cinnamon part in subsequent pies. Terrific!

My oldest daughter's favorite pie is apple so I had to try this. I added some nutmeg and the only thing was that it turned out a little crunchy so next time I'll have to make an adjustment to the time or try a different kind of apple.

Usually I am a 2 crust apple pie fan, but this was GREAT.I like my apples quite tender so i usually cook them a bit before putting in crust. This time i tossed them with the sugar and cinnamon and added 2 tablespoons cake flour and microwaved them till they juiced a bit.I then poured them hot over the crust and added the crumb. The apple filling was very juicy but not runny.Perfect! The thing is you always have to make a pie to know if it's to your liking...This way next time you know how to improve it.For this one i will put more apples (i have used 7 cups this time) and maybe just a tad less crumb.
