great pie, just like my mom has always made for Thanksgiving, and so easy! I used brown sugar instead of white for the topping & added some lemon juice & maybe 2 tbsp flour to the apples- also tossed apples w/ sugar/cinnamon/flour in a ziploc before putting in pie shell. Yum, thanks!

This is certainly a good apple pie, but I can't agree with the rave reviews. I found the topping rather clumpy, and I'd have liked the pie better with more apples. Grandma Ople's Apple Pie on this site it the one I find myself using again and again.

I love this recipe. I didn't put it in a crust though. I just made it as an Apple Crumble. So good though.

very good! I nuke the apples in the microwave for a few minutes first so I can be ensured they're thoroughly cooked and soft when the pie is actually done baking (I hate it when some of the apples are still kind of raw). Then I add the cinnamon and sugar, also a tbsp of flour and mix the apple mixture. After letting the pie cool, you get the perfect taste and consistency. Add a scoop of ice cream and you're in heaven!

This pie was a favorite at last night's pie party. As suggested I added 1 T. cornstarch to the apples, and I also mixed the sugar and cinnamon into the apples before pouring into pie. Next time I will increase the amount of apples by 1 cup to fill up the crust better.

This is a great recipe--I made it for my roommates and the entire thing was gone within a day. Like others, I coated the cut apples in flour, which made a wonderful consistency. I also used a shortbread crust--just made shortbread dough, pressed it into a 9x13 pan, and cooked for 15 minutes or so. Then added the apples and sugar and then the topping. It made a huge pan, and I got so many rave reviews.

I have to say that usually I hate apple pie, not a big fan of apples, but this pie is excellent! My husband bought a bag of cheap apples and hated them; we didn't want to waste them so I offered to make him a pie. We both thought the pie would be mediocre at best, we were floored when it turned out to be the best apple pie we had ever had AND simple to make. Thank you!

yummylicious. I ain't a big apple pie fan, but my friends are, and I wanted a recipe to make somethin' appley for them. Well, I was skeptical when I was mixin' it all together, seein' as how it was so simple, but when them pies came out of the oven (I made 2 from pillsbury readicrust regular size), I was impressed. Not only did they smell good and taste good, but the little crumbly topping made 'em look good too. Thanks for the great addition to my recipe box, and what I am sure will be a fall favorite around here :)

So awesome. I used "easy to remember pie crust," from this Web site, for the base crust. I followed this recipe exactly. It was perfect.

The pie was pretty good! This was my first attempt at making a fresh apple pie, so I followed the directions without omitting or adding anything on my own. It is a very simple recipe, with so few ingredients that I had everything I needed in house. I brought it to my brunch party a few hours later, and when it was sliced, it was a bit too watery. Next time I will add the flour to the apples like the other reviewers suggested and hope instead of watery, the pie is more 'syrupy'. Overall, a good recipe that needs a bit of tweeking for personal taste.

Great alternative to double crust pie. Also, super easy. This was a very sweet pie. I think next time I will only use 1/3 cup of suger on the apples. Thanks!

I have been baking since I was very young, but I have never been able to master an apple pie that is the "triple threat": great consistency (not runny), beautiful appearance, and wonderful taste. Well... I did it. This pie is VERY simple to make. I read all the reviews and made a few adjustments to the original recipe. I coated the apples in a flour/cinnamon mixture which kept them from getting soggy and making my pie runny. I also added just a dash of nutmeg. I cut down the white sugar, but before I added the crumb topping, I sprinkled the top of the apples with brown sugar. EVERY person who tasted these pies (I made 4 at once using 2 packages of pre-made Pillsbury pie crusts), said it was the best apple pie they had ever tasted. Thank you for such a simple, perfect recipe idea!
