I make this pie several times a year. If you have an apple/corer/peeler/slicer, you can have it in the oven in 15 minutes. So easy and so fantastic!!! Try a clay pie plate, it takes about an hour to cook, but no burning or overcooking, it is amazing!

Very good! It was a little runny, so next time I will coat the apples in a little flour! Thanks!

My husband & I loved this recipe. I followed other reviewers' advice & tossed the sliced apples with a small amount of flour. I also made two layers of apples, each topped with 1/2 of the sugar & cinnamon mix. I used red & green delicious apples that were getting old. I used my own recipe for a homemade crust that is very flaky. The pie was wonderful, & my husband said it was the first apple pie he had eaten that was not runny.

I found that the crumble topping was not very tasty, and the apples did not stay moist.

This was so easy to make and so delicious! I used a frozen pie shell, which I quickly baked a little per the box's instructions, and it turned out fantastic. I've gotten many requests to make this again. I used a mix of Granny Smith and MacIntosh apples and it was lovely.

Really liked this recipe. Like other reviews suggested, I did coat my apples in flour and layer the sugar with the apples. Also, I needed to extend the baking time by about 10-15 minutes. It turned out fantastic, thanks!

This pie is pretty good! Definetly have to coat sliced apples with flour and sugar cinnamon mixture so syrup won't be too runny. I liked mine a little bit crunchy so I took it out 3 minutes for schedule time.

This was really good. I used 10 apples, since they do cook down. I also added about 2 tablespoons lime juice in a bowl with the apples, to keep them from browning. I did not pour the sugar mixture over the apples, instead I mixed it into the bowl with the apples. I baked for about 20 minutes before adding the topping.

I changed the receipe to add brown sugar to the topping and used splenda in the apples as well as the topping. It was excellent and so easy to make.

SO DELICIOUS! Hands down the best pie I have ever made/ tasted! My only qualm is that the crumble topping does not stay crisp, after a few hours it absorbs moisture and becomes more chewy. Changes: 1)used half white/ half brown sugar 2)added 2 tbsp flour and 1/4 tsp nutmeg to apple-coating mixture. I used a 9.5" pie dish, so I had to increase the crumble topping by half. Baked for 50 min. and left it in the turned-off oven for a while as I had gone out of the house while it baked. Came out beautiful and lightly browned on top. I used Basic Flaky Pie Crust for the bottom crust, added 1 tbsp white sugar and 1/2 tsp vanilla to the recipe. Thank you, Penny! This recipe is gold!

I'm not sure why this pie is getting so many 5 stars. I hate to say this, I really do, but it's really not that good. I don't know why I strayed from my usual recipe, I guess I wanted to try something new. I knew something was weird when I saw that no flour was added to the apples. I wasn't sure how that yummy apple sauce would form without it, then thought, "Eh, maybe I'm about to learn something new." Nope, as I should've known the inside of the pie turned out dry and the top (due to the flour) was a little mushy, instead of crisp and crumbly. This plan makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Great recipe! My boyfriend & I loved it! Only change I made was to mix the sugar & cinnamon with the apples & cooked it first & then reduced the sauce before pouring them into the pie crust & baking on the oven floor for the first 20 minutes! Absolutely loved it, thanks!

Great recipes. I liked the crumble topping. I do have some tips to keep the crust from being soggy on the bottom. Sprinkle the apples with sugar and spices and then cook them on the stove for about 7 minutes. (You don't want the apples to be mushy.) Drain the apples in a colander, reserving the liquid. Then put the liquid back in the skillet and reduce by simmering about 10 minutes. (Let it caramelize to a nice brown color.) Mix the juices back with the apples and pour into prepared pie crust. You'll never have a runny pie again. ALSO, cook the pie on the floor of your oven for the first 20 minutes. The crust will be nice and crisp on the bottom.
