I took other reviewers advice and mixed the apple with brown & white sugar as well as flour before putting it in the pie dish. Got rave reviews for this on Thanksgiving. My husband has requested that I make this again and often. Thanks for a great easy recipe.

I made this pie for my birthday, and it was amazing! I did make a few changes... I used apple pie spice in place of the cinnamon and nutmeg, which has those two spices plus the addition of cloves. And I also added oats to the topping to give it a little more substance. Delicious!!!

This is an excellent recipe. I did change it a bit though. I added 2 Tbsp flour to the cinnamon mixture, and tossed the apples with the cinnamon mixture before putting it in the pie shell. I baked it at 375 F for 45-50 min. I will definately be making this again.

This was the best apple pie I've made due to it's ease of preparation and how yummy it is too! I used Cortland apples and the only thing I changed was when I made the crumble top, I thought it was a bit too floury so I added 2 more teaspoons of butter. As for the filling, after I dumped the filling in the shell, I sprinkled an additional top layer of more cinnamon, sugar and also some brown sugar. It came out perfect!

Very yummy. Be generous with your sugar and cinmon in your apples, and it never hurts to dab some butter in with them too. I cooked for 30 minutes then covered with foil and cooked 10 minutes longer, and it was nicely cooked all the way through.

Fabulous recipe -- if you make some of the changes suggested by the other reviewers. Toss apples (I used 6 cups in a Tenderflake deep dish crust.) Toss them with the 1/4 c flour, half brown and half white sugar, and a half tsp of nutmeg along with the cinnamon. For the topping, I used brown sugar and added some cinnamon and nutmeg. Baked for an hour at 350 - make sure you check so that the topping doesn't burn. I have a really old oven in the place we are living right now, and couldn't put the pie on the oven floor, but cooked it on the lowest rack possible for the entire cooking time and the crust turned out fine. Got rave reviews!

Excellent recipe! I loved it the first time I made it. I love the thin syrup the apples were bathed in. I normally use artifical sweeteners in almost everything, so the crumble part was a little too sweet for me; also, my crumble came out too dry. The next time I made this, I cut the crumble sugar content from 1/3 to 1/4 cup, and used a whole stick of butter instead of 6 tbsp. Also using all Granny Smith apples, the tartness made a lovely contrast with the syrup. My friends LOVED it!

Thank you so much for a wonderful recipe! It was my first time ever baking an apple pie and it didn't last a day we finished it that same night. This will be in our Thanksgiving/Christmas dinner. Thank you it was so easy and delicious to make. I am very happy with this recipe!

I make this pie several times a year. If you have an apple/corer/peeler/slicer, you can have it in the oven in 15 minutes. So easy and so fantastic!!! Try a clay pie plate, it takes about an hour to cook, but no burning or overcooking, it is amazing!
