I've made this recipe and everyone in my family loves the flavor of it! I used the recipe as is, but I might try half brown sugar in the topping next time :)

Very good! I am happy to see someone uses chopped apples instead of thinly sliced ones. It seems to be popular, but I find them slimy. I did follow the recipe and use white sugar, but the topping is very good with brown sugar too.

I thought this was delicious but next time I will use different apples (I used granny smith and was a bit too tart for my tastes) but that has nothing to do with the recipe. I did use brown sugar instead of white sugar.

This had a decent flavor. I added less nutmeg and more cinnamon, and used granny smith apples. I'm not sure why, I just wasn't impressed with this pie. I may make it again but replace the flour with cornstarch, and add some pecans.

Okay call me cheater. Instead of peeling and slicing fresh apples I used 2 cans of Lucky Leaf apple pie filling. Sure was a lot easier though! I adjusted the sugar and flour because it is already sweetened and thickened. I used about ¼ cup more brown sugar and only about 1 tbsp. flour. And I left out the lemon juice too because the filling evidently already has something like that in it to keep the apples from turning brown. There’s no cinnamon or nutmeg or any spices in this brand so I gather you are supposed to add your own anyway. In a bowl I stirred the brown sugar, flour, spices and sour cream into the apples. Ha, ha, I also melted the butter for the apples in the microwave and then forgot it was there so it got left out. Pie still came out great so I didn’t blab my mistake. I made the crumb topping with brown sugar and a dash of cinnamon and nutmeg. I watched my baking time since the apples were already mostly soft cooked from the can but it took about the same time until it was hot and I even added another 10 mins. to crisp up my topping a little more. I froze this pie for a few days while we finished another I had made and thawed it overnight in the fridge. Quite successful and just like fresh especially if you microwave the pieces to warm them a bit for serving.

I did not add the nutmeg and accidentally used 2 TBSP. flour instead of 1 and it turned out great. Both my husband and 6-year old son gave it a thumbs up! I'll make this one again.

pretty dang good. I don't think it was too sweet at all. In fact, I added just a bit more sugar. I increased the topping and used half brown and half white sugar. Fantastic base recipe.

Wonderful! Did add 1T extra sour cream and also used a white sugar/brown sugar mix with the filling and brown sugar only in the topping. My husband said it was restaurant worthy!!!

I made it just as specified, but added 1 extra Tbs of sour cream. It was the first pie I've ever made in my life, but it was simple to make and everyone thought it was awesome. I used Ida Red apples.

I used brown sugar in the topping. Tasted good, but I think it'd be even better with more crumb topping.

I made this today for my Mom, whose a pretty good cook herself. Said it was the best she's had in a long while (she's in her 70's). I made it as is except I used brown sugar instead of white as others suggested. Thanks for an excellent recipe!

I love this recipe. It is so easy. I used my apple slicer and corer on macintosh apples and it was great. I even refridgerated leftovers and the next day it was still crisp.
