Apple Crumb Pie
SUBMITTED BY:
Ardis Rollefson
"I often brown the topping for this special-occasion pie under the broiler to give it extra eye appeal. Watch it carefully, though, because you don't want to burn Thanksgiving dessert! It's a fitting finale for any festive meal."

Very good- everyone loved it! I added nutmeg and cinnamon to the topping as suggested. Next time, I would use sliced apples instead of chopped because it's more traditional and easier to eat. I would also use about 5 cups of apples because it was almost overflowing as it cooked.

I just made this pie for our Thanksgiving dinner and it turned out delicious. I used Granny Smith apples and increased cooking time for 10 more minutes and browned the top a little (as suggested). My husband and I loved it, my daughter thought it was a little too tart. I guess it depends on taste. I might try to use sweeter apples next time, but other than that it was very, very good!

Made 2 of these pies for the office and they only lasted an hour! Delicious recipe! I used 1/2 cup brown sugar instead of white sugar in the filling too and instead of sour cream, I used plain non-fat yogurt. I am definitelyl making this for the holidays!

Awesome pie! I got great reviews from the family at Thanksgiving. I did substitute vanilla flavoured creamer for sour cream ( not really the same thing) and it turned out great.

My husband doesn't care for apple pie, but LOVED this recipe. He plans to take the left overs to work today. I put brown sugar inplace of the white sugar and added extra cinniman.

My husband said, "I think this is the best apple pie I've ever tasted!!" This is a real compliment as his mother was a tremendous cook, both at home and as her profession.

I made this last night for dessert. My husband loved it. Although I'm not a fan of pies, this was the best. Hmmm, I wonder what other pies I can make with this recipe. Thanks.
