Apple Crumb Pie
SUBMITTED BY:
Ardis Rollefson
"I often brown the topping for this special-occasion pie under the broiler to give it extra eye appeal. Watch it carefully, though, because you don't want to burn Thanksgiving dessert! It's a fitting finale for any festive meal."

Very good- everyone loved it! I added nutmeg and cinnamon to the topping as suggested. Next time, I would use sliced apples instead of chopped because it's more traditional and easier to eat. I would also use about 5 cups of apples because it was almost overflowing as it cooked.

This is the best crumb pie I have made. I did use brown sugar in the topping mix. We love it!

I just made this pie for our Thanksgiving dinner and it turned out delicious. I used Granny Smith apples and increased cooking time for 10 more minutes and browned the top a little (as suggested). My husband and I loved it, my daughter thought it was a little too tart. I guess it depends on taste. I might try to use sweeter apples next time, but other than that it was very, very good!

Made 2 of these pies for the office and they only lasted an hour! Delicious recipe! I used 1/2 cup brown sugar instead of white sugar in the filling too and instead of sour cream, I used plain non-fat yogurt. I am definitelyl making this for the holidays!

Delicious! I did as others suggested and substituted brown sugar for white in the pie AND the topping. I had golden delicious apples on hand so that's what I used, and the pie was on the sweet side (which I like).

Awesome pie! I got great reviews from the family at Thanksgiving. I did substitute vanilla flavoured creamer for sour cream ( not really the same thing) and it turned out great.

I made this today for my Mom, whose a pretty good cook herself. Said it was the best she's had in a long while (she's in her 70's). I made it as is except I used brown sugar instead of white as others suggested. Thanks for an excellent recipe!

I love this recipe. It is so easy. I used my apple slicer and corer on macintosh apples and it was great. I even refridgerated leftovers and the next day it was still crisp.
