I would have given these a 3 but my husbands co-workers loved them so I bumped them up to a 4. I definitely agree with the other reviewers....these need cinnamon! Also, they would have been better if I had tossed the apples with the water/sugar then just poured off. All and all, it was a good recipe, just not fantastic.

This is the first recipe that I have seen with apples in it and NO cinnamon or salt. It is tasteless and too sweet! To eat it requires using a plate, these are not "bars", merely apple crumble stuff. Not a keeper.

These were delicious! My co-workers loved them! I reserved the 2 cups for the topping, but thought the remaining crumbs were a little to much. So I left about 1 cup out for the bottom-came out great!!

These bars were pretty good. I liked that they weren't too sweet. My own disappointment was that there are no spices included. I added a little cinnamon to the apples before adding the sugar mixture, but next time I will add more cinnamon and maybe some nutmeg. These were good, but definitely not savory in their original recipe.

Really good! I halved the recipe and used a 9" pan. I didn't want to core the apples so I left the peel on, quartered them, and put them in the food processor for about 10 seconds. Nobody even noticed the extra fiber! I also added a little cinnamon. It took about 45 minutes to brown. I am always looking for ways to use up the apples from our tree and I will definately keep this recipe.

These are soooo yummy! Few things though. Make sure you mix the sugar and corn starch before adding the butter and water for the glaze! I got clumps of starch in my glaze. Also, be sure the bars are completely cooled before removing. and don't put too many apples in - they will fall apart - 1 thin layer I felt worked best. I agree about the extra butter. All-in-all I will surely be making these again! yummers!

They certainly live up to their name, but these bars were devoured. I immediately got requests for more. In baking them, I left it in the oven for 5-10 minutes longer because the appple mixture hadn't set but I found that it does once its out of the oven. Turned out to be very messy to cut, but I think that had more to do with how I prepared the bottom layer. Definitely going to try these again.

This is one good recipe. Just baked it today for our company gathering. I agree with the first review that the amount of butter should be increased. In fact, I accidentally put more butter than the recipe called for and still the crumb on the top was a bit dry. However, it tasted good overall and most of my colleagues came back for more. Thanks for sharing!

Excellent filling and glaze! Crust was a bit on the dry side. I think it could have used more butter and it would have been perfect.
