I halved the recipe and didn't layer it, just used it as a topping on my fresh apples. I didn't add the nutmeg. Wonderful, perfect and a delicious recipe. I added nuts to the crisp and it turned out great. The only crisp recipe I will ever used. I tried others but this is my favorite, not to sweet just right.

I couldn't find my apple crisp recipe, so I used this. I didn't peel the apples; just cored them and put them through the Cuisinart slicer. Baked at 375 to speed it up, so from start to finish it probably took around 50 minutes. The crisp smelled good and the kids liked it, but it tasted a little bland. If I made it again I would add more nutmeg and maybe more sugar.

So delicious! I didn't put any of the crumble on the bottom the 2nd time around and added extra apples. It was a hit with everyone!!!

Was ok. Used some of the suggestions on using oats. Only had red delicious apples and it came out too sweet. Will try again using tart apples and sticking to the original recipe.

Pretty good recipe. I found both the topping and apples to be a little bland, i will add some more spices next time. It was gone in one day though, the family still loved it!

The final product is really tasty. I think I may have used a bit too much apple and some of them were a little dry but the crumb mixture completely made this recipe worth the work. I dotted the top with a little butter about halfway through baking and it seems to have helped the dry apples. I will definitely make this again.

This was DELICIOUS!! If you make it as the recipe states, you will still be satisfied. However, I made a few modifications and will make a few more next time I make it. First thing: DON'T BE SCARED TO GET YOUR HANDS DIRTY! I think the best way to make the crumble mix, was to just get in there and use your hands. I kind of kneaded and crumbled until it looked right. Also, I ended up having to make another 1/2 of the crisp topping at the end when I realized I ran out. Next time, I will make 1.5 times the amount of crisp and use as much to my liking. Also, definitely need to add more apples than the recipe states. I will use 3 quarts of apples next time. Also, I had a cinnamon/sugar mix in my cabinet so I added a little to the apples and mixed it around. I will definitely do this again. Because there is so much crisp, make sure the apples are ALL OVER the pan and A LOT of them. I will absolutely make this again but it did take a lot of energy, and a bit tedious peeling and coring the apples, but it was definitely worth it in the end!!

This was so easy and GREAT! I made it on a evening that was freezing. We had it with hot chocolate and it was yummy! My husband assumed I spent a long time on it because its so tasty. I will make it again when we have guests over for sure. They will be as impressed as my husband was.

I used grapefruit for about 1/4 of the fruit volume, which added enough sourness and moisture to be perfect for my taste.

Absolutely the best apple crisp recipe ever! I cut down on the butter (2 sticks instead of 3, because 3 is just too much!) and melted it instead of cutting it in, it makes the streusel MUCH better and more even! I also doubled the spices which never hurts. I've made this a couple times now and will continue to use this recipe.

This is very good. I have cooked it several times now and the only adjustments I have tried have been 1/2 cup less flour, adding more cinnimon, lemon juice and vanilla. It all worked and there is never leftovers. :) If you try this recipe just adjust for your families tastes and you will be fine. Next time I am going to try adding boysenberries to give it a juicer finish. Thank you for a great Apple Crisp recipe!

This was very good. I did add more apples and double the crumb crust mixture. Sprinkled a bit of sugar and cinnamon on the apples.... and added caramel... (I know that should be a sin...but oh so good). The whole mix was a bit dry however, that's how I remember it growing up. It's supposed to be dry, not cakey. If you're looking for cakey, you're looking for a brown betty or cobbler or something like that. It's called "crisp" for a reason. This is great served warm with vanilla ice cream or with a bit of milk/cream poured on it. Will make this my "go to" base recipe for any fruit crisp. I've tried blueberries too...very good.

I did not care for this recipe. It was dry and bland. Had I known, I would have doubled the apples and cut the topping by half. I know that the topping is the best part, but in this case, not good at all.
