I made this for dessert tonight and it is pretty good, however, it is a little dry, which explains my stars instead of five. Next time I will add just a tiny bit of unsweetened apple juice to the apples. Not much, maybe just a 1/2 cup or so just to see if I can get it a little less dry. Other than that, this is a great recipe and I will not look for another! By the way, I used about 15 apples, a mix of cortland and jonagold apples.

This is the best ever!!! Whenever I cook something my husband coments on how I oculd improve it. This time I asked his opinion and he said I hit it dead on. I didn't change a thing. Yummy!!!

Mmmmm this was very good. The topping had the perfect amount of spice and was the perfect ratio with the apples. My husband rates all the dishes I make from this website and he gave this a thumbs up and 5 stars. Since there are only two of us, I cut the ingredients in half. We served it with vanilla bean ice cream and it was the perfect dessert.

This was the best crisp I've ever had and I've had many. I've made 2 so far and have gotten raves both times. The bottom crust is a great idea. I did read the reviews and incorporated a few tweeks. I did not peel my apples (used a dozen Fuji). I diced them into medium sized cubes and sprinkled about 2 t. lemon juice, a good dash of cinnamon, and 1 t. pure vanilla extract on them and let them sit while I mixed the crust ingredients. I also decreased the flour to 1 1/2 cups and used 1/4 t. nutmeg and 1/4 t. pumpkin pie spice in place of the full amount of nutmeg. After pressing half of the crust into the pan, I poured all the apples and any juices that were created and then topped with remaining crust. Baked until golden brown. It was perfect!

This is the first time I have ever made apple crispand I looked for a recipe that would work for my family. I had some leftover sliced apples from a work meeting that I wanted to make something out of and this came out fabulous!!! I made the apple crisp in a 13x9 pan and took it to work the next day. Oh, my goodness, but it disappeared in a big hurry!!! This was such a hit, that I am now making it for Thanksgiving with my new in-laws!

Excellent, easy apple crisp. I had a little bit of a hard time with getting it "crumbly" but it eventually worked. I've made this 3 times now, twice with apples and once with cherries, blueberries and raspberries. Turned out great every time! When I make it with apples I always use 4 packets (2 c.) of raisin and spice oatmeal- I love apple crisp with raisins in it! :)

WOW. This just came out of the oven and I stole a bit from the corner. Perfect texture, amazing flavor. I used 6 mediums sized Gayla apples and baked it for 45 minutes. The only change was that after I cut the apples I mixed some cinnamon and vanilla in them to add a bit more flavor. I'm sticking with this one.

Honestly, I thought it was average. It seemed like way too much butter once it was all mixed so I added a bit extra oats and flour and even then it just wasn't quite right. The taste wasn't bad, just not awesome. Tasted good hot with vanilla ice cream....

Fuji apples provided and excellent flavor and texture for this dish! This is an easy recipe to 1/2 successfully if you're just baking for a few people. I cut it in 1/2 and baked in 8 inch square baking dish. I didn't follow the recommended amount of apples in halfing. Instead I heaped the pan and it worked out great! I served it warm with vanilla bean ice cream and everyone loved it!

This was really good. I have not made apple crisp before but this one appealed to me since it had so much of the crisp part. I did add sugar, cinnamon and lemon juice to my apples as other reviewers suggested and it was plenty juicy. I did overcook it a bit as the topping was so thick it didnt seem done at 1st. It was still wonderful. I will make this one again next time I have apples to use up.

I felt the double layer of crumble was too much, if I make it again I will halve the dry goods and just crumble it on top of the apples after I spray a dish with nonstick spray. Also I tried to cut down on the (HUGE) amount of butter this recipe calls for and started with only 1 cup, but it was way to dry looking and I ended up cutting in the other half cup, and still wasn't thrilled with the texture after baked, seemed too floury. Good basic flavor but could use some tweaking.

This is absolutely fabulous! Rave reviews from my family. The only thing I did different was make a double batch of the mixture one on top and one on the bottom(my family loves the apple crisp part). I have made this a lot and everytime I make it it is huge hit! You won't be disappointed!!!!

Overall this was good, but unless you serve this with ice cream or whipped cream-it appears a bit dry compared to other apple crisp recipes. There is no "sauce" really that forms from the apples. Next time I will cut back on the brown sugar in the crumble and add some white sugar directly to the sliced apples like I would for a pie.
