I followed the recipe to the letter, it was great. This is the first review I have written and althouigh this recipe has been reviewed many times I wanted to add my comments. I think the variety of apple might make a difference in how juicy or dry this crisp turns out. Mine was absolutely moist and yummy. I will make this again and I am no big fan of cutting in butter.

This is my first apple crisp recipe, and I love it! It is definitely a little more crispy and a little less apple-y, but I really like it that way. I soaked the apples in lemon juice and sugar mixture, which was great. I also used 2 sticks of butter, 1 cup sugar (but I think 1 and 1/4 would have been perfect) and 1 cup of flour. Overall, delicious!

I love any apple crisp receipe that has oats in it, so I had to try this one! It was great. Our neighbors came down to have some and were really impressed. I will definitely make this again!

This is very good. I gave it four stars because I did take a few suggestions from the other reviews. I cut the flour by 1/2 cup, used only 1 cup of butter and one cup of sugar...I just felt like 1 1/2 cups of sugar was way too much. I used 5 green apples to balance out the amount of crisp this recipe yields. I also tossed the apples in lemon juice and sprinkled white sugar on them before putting them in the pan. It turned out well, the crisp was crisp and the apples were tender and juicy. Overall, very yummy!!!!

I was worried that the apples would be dry or plain with no sugar or sauce, the crust locked in the flavour and made a perfect crist. I will hold on to this recipe.

This recipe was the best, I would personally make a little less crisp. Also, I made it with only 1 cup of MELTED butter, instead of 1 1/2. But this was sooo good and sooo easy.

I've never made an apple crisp that had a "bottom crust." I LOVE the crisp parts so I thought I would give it a try. To be honest, I didn't really care for the bottom crust, nor did my husband or step-son. After reading the reviews of "dryness," I decided to had 3/4 cup of apple cider, "not sweet" I added brown sugar to the apples to help for sweetness and apple pie spice for flavor, added minute tapioca to reduce possibility of runny sauce. Over all it came out okay, but I don't necesarily think this is the recipe for our family.

Easy and everyone loved it! I doubled the cinnamon because my daughter read it out to me wrong but that worked great, too!

This recipe has great flavor, but is very dry. My suggestion would be to cut the flour by 1/2c or add frozen berries to give it some liquid.

This is tasty and super duper easy. It's not apple pie, of course, but pretty darn close and SO much easier. I make mine in an oven safe bowl and add extra apple filling. I like making it with oatmeal, it's a healthier alternative to other desserts :) Great recipe, definitely a fall/winter staple when you want something sweet.

This is a very good recipe if you like lots of crust, which I do. You have to add lemon juice to the apples, with a little water and cornstarch. Cook until nearly boiling and pour over bottom crust. I also added pecans to the crust!!

I thought the top and apples were dry. Maybe I need to divide the crisp part in two before mixing. Or put less crust on the bottom. Too much oatmeal not enough butter. I don't know I know I didn't like it.

YUMMY!! This was delicious! I ended up using 4 granny smith apples and making a bit more of the crumb mixture (as I didnt feel as if I had enough) I also used half white sugar and half brown sugar just to vary the sweetness and I took the advice of another reviewer and tossed the apples in some additional cinnamon-sugar before placing them in the dish. I also added a bit of milk to the bottom layer of the crumb mixture because I feared the crisp would be too dry without it. Turned out GREAT! The bottom was nice and chewy, the apples were sweet but still tart, and the top was crispy and golden brown. Will definitely make again.
