I followed the advice to use brown sugar. I used about 3/4 cup of brown sugar, skipped the white sugar and it was plenty sweet. The mixture wasn't crumbly but it was delicious. I threw some oats on top just to add texture. It came out excellent. Hubby polished off half the pan. This one is a keeper!

Eh, this recipe is O.K. when you don't have any oats in the house and need to make something in a hurry, but I doubt I'll make it again. Not enough texture. (Too mushy.) My recommendation: if you live near a grocery store, just go buy some oats and make traditional apple crisp.

I just now tried this recipe and it is awesome. The only thing i did different was that i used a little cinnamon than it said. I did have to bake it for 50 minutes also, and it turned out wonderful, i will definately make this again.

FINALLY an apple crisp recipe that didn't flop! Normally I can cook anything but have never had an apple crisp that came out right until NOW. The only change I made was adding more cinnamon and using 1/2 white and 1/2 brown sugar. Will make again and again.

Great recipe! Super easy but very good. I didn't quite have the timing right... I'm going to have to play with that next time, it wound up taking about 20 minutes more than the recipe called for.

this was way too sweet and the apples baked down so could have used about twice the amt. in the recipi.

I used Granny Smith's, 1/2 white & 1/2 brown sugars, and 2 tsp. cinnamon because we like that little extra flavor. I didn't have to worry about leftovers - very good!

I used four large unpeeled apples and made this in a 13x9 inch pan. I increased the topping by a half though I think it would have been better if I'd doubled it. I like the traditional crisp with oatmeal better, so I probably won't make this again. It's still good though.

Top notch. I like a softer texture on my apples, so I cooked for longer at a bit lower temperature. Even added in a few oats for texture. Will make again when I have apples on the downhill side of good in my fridge.

I was skeptical in trying this as I am so used to homemade apple crisp with the oats topping. I'm glad I did, it's delicious! I drizzled honey over the apples, as well as put about 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract in the topping. I also sprinkled some cinnamon in the topping as well. The reason I am giving this 4 stars is because it was really runny; next time I make this I will only put about half the amount of water, if any at all. I will definately make this again! Thanks for awesome recipe! :)

I guess I just like the brown sugar and oat recipees better. This one doesn't have enough different spices. Tasted way too sweet!

Really delicious and easy-to-make apple crisp! I'll definitely use this again! I, also, used half brown sugar and half white sugar and also used OJ instead of water, and added a tsp of vanilla into the crumble mixture. I think that my crisp could have been a bit crispier, but I'm an amateur with crisps, so I think that will come with time! Mmmmm!

This is great! I'm eating some right now and I love it! I used 5 medium granny smith apples, did 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar and baked it 50 minutes until the top was golden brown. So yummy! I've been searching for a great no-oat Apple Crisp and this is it! Thanks!

This was very tasty considering how easy it was to prepare. I followed the recipe exactly except for using half brown sugar and half white sugar, and I saved time by not peeling the apples. I served it with vanilla ice cream for a simple dessert.

GREAT recipe! I used 1/4 c. sugar & 1/4 c. butter, kept the flour the same - this was plenty sweet for me & made a delicious crispy crumble for the top. Very easy to make too, I highly recommend it.

Oh my! This recipe is so easy and so delicious. I have tried it with green apples and with red apples. Both were great. I liked the one with green and my husband preferred the one with red, I will make it with half and half next time. It does not get easier or better then this recipe! Thank you so much!
