I followed the advice of other reviewers and made this using 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 white sugar instead of a full cup of white sugar. I also sprinkled some extra cinnamon in the crumb topping mixture and then again on the top before baking. Great apple crisp!

This is an excellent, simple recipe that I enjoyed making. I didn't have any oats on hand so I opted for an "oat-free" recipe. The end result was great! Like others before, I did a white/brown sugar mix. And, while sprinkling the topping, realised that I could easily 1.5x that bit! I love the crunchy topping! (It does get a bit sugary after cooling, so eating it warm is the way to go.) I would glady serve this to visitors for tea. Also, it's so easy for hungry children. 5 stars for simplicity and good taste.

Yummy! Loved it, followed others sugar suggestions -- next time will double the topping though. Will make again :)

The top didn't turn out all crubmly, and I even left it in MUCH longer than it said.

a topping without oats was a nice change. Using very tart apples for this was good. I liked the flavor contrast between the filling and the topping.

This is the easiest most delicious apple crisp I have ever had=) The topping was very crispy just like it should be. I did make a small adjustment as suggested previously, which was I used 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar and a teaspoon of vanilla to the mixture. I add vanilla to everything baked. Thanks for a really really easy and delicious recipe! A keeper for sure. Will try this with peaches next;}

I don't know why but I always thought of apple crisp as a daunting task to take on. Peeling the apples was not fun but I liked this recipe so much that I made it twice in one week. I only had brown sugar so substituted that for white and added some vanilla to the water for extra flavor. Great, easy recipe.

FANTASTIC!!!! Took the advice from other reviewers and used half white and half brown sugar. Also, decreased water and mixed apples with a little cinnamon and sugar before putting them in the baking dish. Most certainly a KEEPER!!!

I had friends coming for dinner and wanted a fall-ish recipe that was easy. This was it! While we ate dinner, it baked and made the whole house smell good. I also substituted 1/2 brown and 1/2 white sugar. Haagen Dazs makes a Brown Sugar ice cream that's yummy served with this dessert!

Only changes made were to crumble a few tablespoons of brown sugar on top of the crust and to bake for 45 minutes.

My family and my co-workers loved this recipe. I used 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar as suggested. I also sprinkled in some cinnamon into the topping mix. Should bake, at least, 45-50 minutes as suggested.

This was really scrumptious!!! I will definitely make this again. The only changes I made was to add cinnamon directly to the apples and coat - in addition to the crust. I also added 1/2 c. whole grain oatmeal to the topping.
