This is so easy and so delicious! As many others mentioned, I substituted some of the sugar with brown sugar, and baked at 375 for about 40 minutes. The first time I made it with butter as listed in the ingredients, and it was fantastic, but I made it again a week later with margarine because I realized last minute I was out of butter, and it was almost even better (the topping was more crunchy/crispy). Great, simple recipe that seems flexible.

This recipe was the best! I don't understand why people rate it low because they changed and ruined the recipe. Follow the directions, it's easy and delicious!

Good flavor. However, I used margarine instead of butter and it was not crispy at all. Still tasted great, but not an apple crisp. Would make it with real butter next time.

More than doubled this. Used 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 white sugar. Also used 3 different kinds of apples. Baked at 400 degrees about 50 min. So very good!

Very easy and delicious. Also VERY sweet. Definitely need some vanilla ice cream to tone it down. I used 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 white sugar as other suggested and also some cinnamon to the topping. Can't have too much cinnamon! My husband LOVED it.

This recipe reminds me of the Pampered Chef apple crisp recipe that uses a yellow cake mix. I really like this...very sweet, not dry like crisp recipes can be. Because of some food intolerances, I used Bob's Red Mill all purpose GF mix instead of the regular flour. I've made twice and will no doubt make again!

This is an awesome recipe! I followed the recipe with only a couple of changes..one was to add some brown sugar to the regular sugar, as some others had suggested, and the other change I made was to bake at 400 for the same amount of time. It just wasn't browning at 350. It turned out so good!!! And the house smells wonderful!!! Thanks for the easist apple crisp recipe ever!

OMG!!! Soooo Good! I could just eat the topping raw..that's how good it is. The house smells wonderful and it is a really easy recipe. I doubled the batch so I could send some to family but I took everyone else's suggestions and used brown and white sugar combined.

I made this for my parents tonight and after I made it I asked my mom how she makes her apple crisp. It turned out that it was exactly the same recipe she uses. Great minds think alike! I did sprinkle a little nutmeg on the apples when I put on the cinnamon just because I love nutmeg.

Overall, it was pretty good. I used wheat flour instead of white and applesauce instead of butter. The top ended up being good, but could have been a little crispier. I would also use a little less water or maybe cut the apples a little bit thicker the next time I used the recipe because the apples ended up being a little mushy. I'll def. use this recipe again with a few alterations. Thanks!

This recipe is AMAZING! I LOVED it! So did my husband and son! Only difference - next time I will make sure we have some vanilla ice cream in the house to serve it with! :) Thanks for sharing!

Really good. Just went apple picking, and this is what the hubby wanted first. Used Empire apples by mistake. (got them for sauce) Loved how the topping was crispy, just like I wanted it to be! Used all white sugar and no added vanilla. Did add a dash of salt cuz I like the tang it gives. Thanks-enjoy!

I'd give this a 5 for simplicity and taste but I had to make a few minor changes, so it's a 4. I used 1/2 white sugar and 1/2 brown sugar and I added 1/2 tsp. of vanilla to the sugar & butter mixture. The only thing I'd chnage for next time is I'd use l/2 cup water instead of 1/2 cup. The apples turned out a little too mushy.

This recipe is to die for. We love this. I have made this recipe twice and have made double the recipe. The only issue I see with this recipe is the temp vs time. On 350 it take 1hr 15min to cook.

I followed the advice of other reviewers and made this using 1/2 brown sugar and 1/2 white sugar instead of a full cup of white sugar. I also sprinkled some extra cinnamon in the crumb topping mixture and then again on the top before baking. Great apple crisp!
