A little to wet. Next time I'll try it without as much water.

This was easy, and great! The only thing I changed was the oven temp - I cooked it at 400 degrees for 40 minutes.

This is hands down the best apple crisp I have ever eaten. I used a mix of pink lady and golden delicious apples. Nebraska City is the home of Arbor Day which translates to lots of apples readily available this time of year. I did change the sugar, like some of the other suggestions to 1/2 brown sugar. Its not too sweet, but just sweet enough. It's a keeper!!!

I'm making this recipe for the second time in two weeks. It is soooo good. I took others advice and used 1/2 white sugar and 1/2 brown. I also cut down on the total amount of sugar. Overall a simple wonderful yummy recipe. Thank you :-)

This was GREAT!!! I'm living in Cape Verde, Africa with the Peace Corps so we don't have lots of "fancy" ingredients like oats and brown sugar. I wanted to make our language teachers an American meal and made this for dessert because of the simplicity. It was wonderful. The only reason I took away one star is because it was a little too sweet, so cut down on the sugar a little. I made it EXACTLY as the recipe says and it was really really good; next time less sugar.

Just made this and in a word it is DEEELISHHHH!!!!! I used Macintosh and gala apples and mixed them with some cinnamon, vanilla, and lemon juice. I also decreased the water to 1/4 cup and it was fine. I made the topping in the food processor using earth balance shortening, 1/2 brown 1/2 white sugar, and added cinnamon. I just can't stop eating it and it is so easy. I would love to try this with a caramel sauce on top.

This recipe was perfect - easy and made with all ingredients I had on hand. I did add some oats for a little extra crunchiness.

This was FANTASTIC! I did change it just a bit. I added 3 plums and used apple juice instead of water. Such a good, quick and easy treat. I will make this often.

Oct. 27 2008 I made this recipe lastnight, and it is Yummy for my tummy!! I used 2 med. Granny Smith and 1 Braeburn apple[these apples are a tart apple, which really gives it a good apple taste, not a sweet taste},I did use 1/2 C. white sugar and 1/2 C. brown sugar, instead of 1 C.all white sugar.I only added 1/4 C. water instead of the 1/2 Cup that it called for. Also sprinkled more ground cinnamom and ground nutmeg on the top before I put in the oven.I baked it for 40 mins. and did what one suggested and placed it under the broiler for about 1 min.to get the top brown, but it seemed to make the top crust a little hard,so I put the cover on the baking pan while it was still warm and it seemed to softened up. I think the apples that I used is what gave this recipe a good flavor. I will make this again..I think this spring I will make it with Rhubarb instead of apples...yum yum! Thanks for sharing a darn good recipe.

My Family LOVES this recipe. I have made it 3 times in 2 weeks and everytime I have used different apples. I did mix about 2 tablespoons brown sugar to the water to make it a little sweeter. I also raised the temp to 400. This one's a keeper!!

This is a recipe that has been around for years. People used to eat sweeter desserts than they do today so that is why many of us want to cut back on the sugar in this apple crisp. I mix the sugar (half brown) and flour together then cut the butter in the dry ingredients with a pastry blender. It is crumbly when it goes on the apples and makes a nice topping.

I made this recipe with a variety of apples we picked last weekend, and it was to die for! I chose it because I didn't want to use oats, and it came out sooo good. The apples were soft and sweet and the topping was crispy and delicious. I didnt' make any changes, I used all the water and it came out great. Definitely a keeper!

GREAT RECIPE!!!! Quick and easy. I did the 1/2 white and 1/2 brown sugar and added cinnamon to the topping in addition to sprinkling it on top of the apples. I also cooked at the higher temperature. My son loved it! So I just got done making it again.

This is the perfect crisp without oatmeal! I used fresh pears from our tree instead of apples, and I used 1/2 cup white sugar and 1/2 cup brown sugar instead of all white sugar. Perfect!!!!!

This was delicious! I upped the temp in the oven to 375 for 15 extra minutes which helped turn the topping golden brown. Otherwise it would have taken much longer than recipe stated to get the top brown.

really easy and turns out a crowd-pleaser. I used 50/50 white/brown sugar, and 50/50 white/wheat flour. I will try cutting down the sugar next time because it is really really sweet, but therefore a crowd-pleaser...
